Job Summary
Seeking a highly skilled and motivated
Underwriter
specializing in Contract Surety to join a team. This role offers the opportunity to manage a book of business within a designated territory, with profit and loss responsibility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in underwriting, financial analysis, and account management, as well as the ability to develop and execute strategic marketing plans.
Underwriter - Contract Surety Compensation Package
Salary Range: $88,000 - $126,000 annually (depending on experience)
Employment Type: Permanent, full-time position
Responsibilities
Manage and maintain profit and loss responsibility for a book of business within the assigned territory.
Develop and execute a marketing plan to generate new business by targeting key brokers, arranging meetings, and attending industry functions.
Conduct underwriting functions, including financial analysis, account analysis, industry analysis, and administrative tasks.
Adhere to underwriting guidelines and authority limits.
Serve as a resource on underwriting and territory-related issues for team members across the country.
Lead special projects and perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in insurance, finance, risk management, business, or a related field.
A minimum of 4 years of experience in Contract Surety underwriting.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to apply strategic perspectives to underwriting processes.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proven ability to work independently and meet objectives.
Willingness to travel within the assigned territory to meet with agents, contractors, and attend industry events.
