Senior Portfolio Analyst The Senior Portfolio Analyst is a key member of the Portfolio Planning and Optimization Team, responsible for planning, operating, and optimizing the Digital Analytics and Technology (DAT) organization’s technology investments. In this role, you will strengthen portfolio governance, mature reporting capabilities, and translate complex financial, resource, and delivery data into clear insights for senior leaders. You will play a hands‑on role in evolving processes and tools that support the portfolio and improve alignment between technology, finance, and business partners.

This position is ideal for someone who combines strong analytical skills with the ability to communicate clearly, influence cross-functionally, and operate comfortably in executive‑facing environments.

This role is hybrid; you will be required to work some days on‑site at the Best Buy location listed on this posting and some days virtually from home or other non‑Best Buy location. What you’ll do Reporting & Data Governance

Build, enhance, and maintain scalable reporting tools, models, and dashboards (Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint) that provide leadership with real time insight to support decision making.

Ensure the accuracy, relevance, and integrity of portfolio reporting by maintaining data sources, refining metrics, and validating outputs in partnership with Finance.

Serve as a steward of portfolio data by defining, documenting, and maintaining data models, standards, and reporting processes (guides, templates, FAQs, instructions).

Build stakeholder confidence through rigorous data validation, reconciliation, and consistent application of governance standards.

Partner cross‑functionally with Finance, Controllership, and Operations to deliver aligned, trusted reporting and shared understanding of portfolio performance.

Enable a data‑driven culture by helping stakeholders interpret portfolio insights and apply them effectively in decision‑making.

Portfolio Insights & Analytics

Enable data‑informed portfolio decisions, transforming complex financial, resource, and delivery data into clear, compelling insights for leadership.

Advance the evolution of the DAT portfolio by identifying opportunities for automation, simplification, and process improvement.

Strengthen portfolio financial performance and forecast fidelity through proactive analysis of budget utilization, spend performance, and variance drivers.

Portfolio Operations & Execution

Partner with product managers, portfolio leads and hiring managers to ensure accurate labor and resource allocations.

Administer and maintain the resource time reporting system, ensuring data quality and usability.

Prepare ad‑hoc analyses and executive‑ready materials to support leadership discussions and decisions.

Participate in monthly business reviews with VPs and Portfolio Group Leads, collaborating closely with Finance and other key partners.

Support quarterly and annual planning cycles.

Basic Qualifications

2+ years of experience in IT, Finance, Procurement or a business‑related role.

Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel with 1.5+ years of experience building pivot tables and using complex formulas in Microsoft Excel.

Intermediate proficiency with PowerPoint.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate data into clear messages.

Demonstrated critical and strategic thinking skills.

Ability to work independently while being a strong team player.

Comfort operating in a fast‑paced, evolving environment and drive results.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Communications or related field.

1+ years managing complex IT program, portfolio financials, resource allocations and/or P&L or budget management experience.

Exposure to / proficiency with Power BI, Planview, Confluence/Wiki, Sharepoint, and/or Jira.
