POSITION PURPOSE The Commercial Loan Officer provides ethical, professional, friendly, and quality service to our members. This role is responsible for providing guidance and counseling to members regarding business services, and for underwriting business loans, making sound decisions for both the Credit Union and its members. The Commercial Loan Officer exemplifies CWCU’s core competencies by anticipating member needs, communicating effectively, and collaborating with internal and external partners to enhance the member experience and achieve results.
Hybrid schedule: 3 days in office/2 days remote.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities Loan Origination & Credit Analysis – 35%
Interview, consult, and perform credit reviews of potential borrowers.
Analyze creditworthiness and prepare repayment plans for approval.
Apply knowledge of legal entities and loan documentation to determine eligibility.
Loan Portfolio Management & Monitoring – 25%
Develop, maintain, and grow the commercial loan portfolio.
Ensure timely and thorough monitoring of business loans.
Work with commercial borrowers during early delinquency phases.
Loan Processing & Documentation – 20%
Prepare business loan documents and files, ensuring compliance.
Review applications and incoming documentation for completeness.
Obtain and coordinate loan closing information, prepare closing documents.
Departmental Oversight & Strategy – 10%
Provide daily oversight of the department.
Recommend policy, guideline, and procedural changes as needed.
Provide ongoing feedback to Director of Business Services.
Compliance, Reporting, & Training – 10%
Ensure compliance with legal documentation and lending regulations.
Maintain spreadsheets, reports, and business loan‑related records.
Attend training and stay updated on policies, regulations, and services.
Qualifications
Excellent planning skills, both short‑ and long‑term planning, financial acumen and analytical skills.
Strong PC knowledge including Microsoft Office Suite software and database operations.
Effectively able to manage multiple projects and work through constant interruptions.
Have a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial concepts.
Able to manage schedule with minimal supervision and oversight.
Ability to flex your schedule to meet the needs of members.
Familiarity with ACH and merchant services.
Required knowledge of current State, Federal, and other regulations applicable to commercial lending.
Ability to present a professional image to management, staff, and outside contacts.
Thorough knowledge of financial institution products and services, policies and procedures, remote delivery channels and member service functions. Strong organizational, time management, problem‑solving, customer service, communication and presentation skills.
Proficient verbal and written skills to effectively communicate in the English language.
Ability to assess and implement organizational changes.
Education/Experience Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field, or demonstrated experience required.
Minimum experience required 2 years in underwriting commercial loans; however 5 years is preferred.
