About the Role: We are seeking a highly analytical and experienced investment professional to join our External Investments team as a Junior Portfolio Manager. This role supports portfolio construction, manager due diligence, and investment strategy across multiple asset classes, with a primary emphasis on Global Fixed Income and Absolute Return (hedge fund) strategies.
This position offers direct exposure to senior leadership and the Investment Committee, with meaningful responsibility in evaluating, recommending, and monitoring institutional investment strategies.
Key Responsibilities Investment Research & Due Diligence
Monitor existing investment strategies and evaluate new opportunities
Conduct in-depth qualitative and quantitative analysis of external asset managers
Perform detailed due diligence on funds and co-investments
Analyze macroeconomic trends and market cycles to inform portfolio decisions
Prepare comprehensive investment memoranda and recommendations
Portfolio Management & Reporting
Support portfolio construction and allocation decisions
Lead preparation of periodic portfolio reviews and Board materials
Assist in developing tactical and strategic investment themes
Maintain documentation and analysis within internal systems
External Manager Oversight
Serve as primary relationship contact for assigned external managers
Conduct ongoing oversight focused on organization, investment process, portfolio fit, and risk-adjusted performance
Coordinate with custodians, consultants, administrators, and internal Legal, Risk, and Accounting teams
Support negotiation of investment management terms
Qualifications Required
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Business Administration, or related field
Minimum 7 years of experience in institutional asset management, consulting, banking, or financial services analytical roles
Strong quantitative and financial modeling skills
Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office proficiency
Experience conducting manager research and investment analysis
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred
MBA or other advanced degree
CFA or CAIA designation
Experience allocating capital to external managers across fixed income and/or hedge fund strategies

Work Environment This position is primarily office-based in Austin, TX. Travel (10-25%) may include manager meetings, industry conferences, and site visits. Occasional extended hours may be required based on business needs.

Estimated Max Rate : $200000.00
