A leading, institutionally backed real estate investment organization is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its Corporate Accounting team. This role supports a complex portfolio of real estate investments and offers hands-on exposure to sophisticated partnership accounting, SOX controls, and GAAP reporting within a highly collaborative environment.
*$85-$100K base salary ($105K-$120K Total Comp 1st Year)
*Hybrid 3 days/week in office

Responsibilities
Support the month-end close process by preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting analyses.
Perform daily accounting operations, including financial reporting activities and SOX-related internal controls.
Review and process monthly financial packages from third-party property managers, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
Reconcile general ledger balances to sub-ledgers and detailed supporting schedules.
Prepare monthly variance analysis and management reporting in accordance with internal control requirements.
Review loan draws and record funding-related journal entries, ensuring proper project and GL coding.
Partner cross-functionally and with external service providers to ensure timely and accurate transaction recording.
Assist with the implementation of new accounting processes and the continuous improvement of existing workflows.
Prepare audit support and respond to requests from internal and external auditors.
Troubleshoot and resolve escalated accounting issues.
Maintain and update standard operating procedures for key accounting processes.
Provide ad hoc reporting and special project support to senior finance leadership.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
2+ years of relevant accounting experience.
Strong working knowledge of GAAP, including consolidations and real estate accounting.
Public accounting (Big 4) experience preferred.
Advanced Excel skills required; experience with Yardi or other real estate accounting systems preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and analytically minded.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
