The Benefits Specialist is responsible for administering and supporting the daily functions of the Human Resources department with a primary focus on benefits administration, leave of absence management, onboarding, and new hire orientation. This role ensures accurate, compliant, and timely delivery of employee benefits programs while serving as a trusted resource to employees and leaders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Administer and manage employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement plans, wellness initiatives, and leave of absence programs (FMLA, ADA, state leaves).
Run day‑to‑day HR operational functions including onboarding, benefits enrollment, new hire orientation, and policy enforcement.
Serve as a primary point of contact for employee benefits inquiries, providing clear guidance on plan options, enrollment, eligibility, claims, and policy interpretation.
Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute HR programs, including benefits, leave administration, disciplinary actions, performance management support, talent processes, productivity tracking, and unemployment management.
Assist with annual benefits renewal processes by working closely with brokers, carriers, and vendors to evaluate plan options and ensure competitive offerings.
Analyze benefits data, participation rates, and costs to provide reporting, insights, and ROI metrics to leadership.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations including FMLA, ACA, FLSA, ERISA, and applicable benefits regulations.
Maintain accurate employee records within the HRIS, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality at all times.
Handle employment‑related inquiries from employees and supervisors, escalating complex or sensitive issues to appropriate HR leadership.
Participate in salary surveys and market benchmarking studies to support competitive compensation and benefits package design.
Support the development and maintenance of equitable compensation structures aligned with market data and organizational strategy.
Review HR policies and practices to ensure ongoing compliance with legal requirements and recommended best practices.
Stay current on HR trends, benefits innovations, regulatory changes, and emerging HR technologies.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict‑resolution abilities.

Strong analytical, data management, and problem‑solving skills.

Thorough knowledge of employment‑related laws and regulations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Proficiency with HRIS platforms, including data entry, reporting, and system maintenance.
Ability to quickly learn new systems and processes as needed.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
Two to five years of human resources experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Experience administering employee benefits and leave programs.
Experience participating in salary surveys and compensation benchmarking, with a focus on benefits package competitiveness.
UKG (UltiPro) experience or experience with a comparable HRIS system required.
