Our member firm is hiring for their offices based in South Florida! We are seeking a strategic and results-driven

Director of Operations

to lead and optimize operations within our growing CPA firm. The Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing the firm’s day-to-day operational functions to ensure efficiency, profitability, and scalability. This role works closely with firm leadership to implement strategic initiatives, improve internal processes, manage administrative teams, and drive operational excellence across all departments, including tax, audit, advisory, and client services. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with experience in professional services, preferably within a CPA or accounting firm, who understands workflow management, budgeting, compliance, and performance metrics.

Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership

Oversee daily operations of the firm to ensure efficiency and consistency across departments

Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and best practices

Monitor workflow management for tax, audit, and advisory engagements

Identify process improvement opportunities to increase productivity and reduce bottlenecks

Ensure operational alignment with firm goals and strategic initiatives

Financial & Performance Management

Oversee firm budgets in coordination with partners

Monitor KPIs including realization, utilization, billable hours, and profitability

Analyze financial performance and recommend operational adjustments

Assist with forecasting, capacity planning, and resource allocation

Systems & Technology Oversight

Oversee practice management systems (ERP), workflow tools, document management systems, and billing platforms

Lead implementation of new software and operational technology solutions

Ensure data accuracy and reporting integrity across systems

Improve automation and efficiency through technology optimization

Compliance & Risk Management

Ensure operational compliance with regulatory and professional standards

Maintain internal controls and quality assurance procedures

Oversee engagement tracking, documentation standards, and firm policies related directly to operations

Client Experience & Service Standards

Ensure consistent client service standards across departments

Monitor turnaround times and service metrics

Address operational issues that impact client satisfaction

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field (MBA preferred)

7+ years of operational leadership experience, preferably in a CPA or professional services firm

Strong understanding of accounting firm workflows (tax, audit, advisory)

Experience with practice management software and ERP systems

Proven ability to manage budgets and performance metrics

Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills

This position operates as part of a US East Coast-based team, with typical working hours aligning with EST to facilitate effective collaboration.
