The Digital Newsroom & Content Strategy Manager leads OU Health's storytelling team, serving as the central driver of organizational storytelling for the brand newsroom. This role manages the content development for the comprehensive digital newsroom to position OU Health as the authoritative source for its own narratives. The Manager provides strategic direction and hands‑on leadership to a team of content creators, ensuring high‑quality multimedia storytelling that advances clinical excellence, employee engagement, brand positioning and patient acquisition goals. This position bridges earned and owned media strategies while establishing editorial governance, content standards and performance optimization frameworks that supports and positions OU Health's reputation as a flagship academic health system.

Content Strategy & Planning

Develop and execute a comprehensive digital newsroom content strategy aligned with organizational priorities, service line growth objectives and marketing initiatives, including an editorial calendar that balances storytelling across clinical innovation, employee engagement, patient success, community impact and organizational achievements

Create compelling narratives that position OU Health as a leader in academic medicine, highlighting groundbreaking research, innovative treatments, resident and fellowship training programs and the collaborative environment where physician‑researchers advance medical knowledge while delivering exceptional patient care

Partner with the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine to develop integrated storytelling that showcases the synergy between clinical care, medical education and research, featuring faculty achievements, student and resident experiences and collaborative initiatives that strengthen OU Health's identity as the clinical enterprise of Oklahoma's only academic medical center

Establish content governance frameworks, editorial standards, quality benchmarks, and approval workflows to ensure brand consistency and message accuracy

Align content strategy to maximize SEO performance and visibility in AI‑powered information retrieval platforms (LLMs), implementing best practices for both traditional search optimization and emerging AI curation

Conduct competitive analysis of peer academic health systems and regional healthcare organizations to identify content trends and opportunities

Digital Newsroom Management

Oversee the development of content during newsroom launch and ongoing management of OU Health's digital newsroom platform as the central hub for organizational storytelling

Ensure the digital newsroom integrates seamlessly into ouhealth.com while serving as a modernized showcase for OU Health news and story content

Manage platform functionality, user experience, content organization and technical optimization

Coordinate content distribution strategies across owned channels to amplify reach and engagement

Implement content management systems and workflows that enable efficient production and publication

Content Creation & Editorial Oversight

Oversee the creation of compelling written, visual, video and interactive content across multiple formats and platforms

Ensure all content meets established editorial standards, brand guidelines and organizational messaging frameworks

Edit and review content for accuracy, clarity, impact and alignment with strategic objectives

Develop content that showcases clinical expertise, technology, outcomes, physician capabilities and patient experiences across newsroom including physician profiles, patient success stories, employee recognition features and clinical innovation spotlights

Identify and amplify earned media coverage through owned channels to extend reach and impact

Team Leadership & Development

Provide direct supervision, mentorship and professional development to a team of content writers and digital content developers

Establish clear performance expectations, conduct regular evaluations and foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement

Build team capabilities in multimedia storytelling, digital journalism, SEO optimization and data‑driven content strategy

Manage workload distribution, prioritization and resource allocation to optimize team productivity

Stakeholder Engagement & Partnership

Build and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders across the organization to source compelling stories

Partner with media relations team to integrate earned and owned media strategies

Coordinate with marketing to ensure content supports brand positioning and campaigns

Engage with service line leadership to identify content needs that drive volume growth and patient acquisition

Collaborate with human resources on employee engagement and internal communications content

Work with development/foundation teams to create impact stories that support philanthropic initiatives

Serve as content strategy advisor to organizational leadership

Performance Analytics & Optimization

Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and measurement frameworks for content effectiveness that demonstrates ROI

Track and analyze content performance data including engagement metrics, SEO rankings, traffic patterns and audience behavior

Generate regular performance reports with actionable insights and strategic recommendations

Use data‑driven insights to continuously optimize content strategy, topics, formats, and

Minimum Qualifications Education:

Bachelor's Degree required.

Experience:

At least 5 years of experience in digital content creation, journalism, corporate communicate or digital media including at least 3 years of progressive leadership experience.

License/Certification/Registration:

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Demonstrated experience developing and executing content strategies

Proven track record creating compelling multimedia content for web and digital platforms

Experience managing editorial calendars, content workflows, and publication schedules

Understanding of health care practices and medical terminology

Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail, grammar and AP style

Strategic thinking with ability to align content initiatives to organizational objectives

Data literacy and analytical skills to interpret performance metrics and derive insights

Excellent interpersonal and relationship‑building skills

Strong project management and organizational capabilities with ability to manage multiple priorities

Leadership abilities including delegation, feedback delivery and team development

Collaborative mindset with ability to work across departments and influence without authority

Creative problem‑solving skills and adaptability in fast‑paced environment

Experience with video production, podcasting or multimedia storytelling

Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive content practices

Background in brand journalism or corporate storytelling

Travel within Oklahoma City metro area as needed
