GP Strategies Government Solutions has an opening for an

Instructional Systems Designer (ISD)

with photography skills. This position is primarily based in Auburn and Frederickson, Washington, with additional trips to Renton and Seattle as needed. Mileage for this travel is reimbursed. This is a full‑time, benefitted position and supports a large aviation client.

SUMMARY Applies formalized educational processes to develop training programs for employees of industrial, commercial, service, or government organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Applies instructional systems methodology (e.g., Instructional Systems Development, Systems Approach to Training, or Training Systems Development) to ensure integrity of the training development process

Performs needs, job, audience, and task analyses to determine training requirements; incorporates analyses outcomes into proposals for curriculum or course design

Engages with client stakeholders and subject matter experts (SMEs) to solicit information as required during all phases of the project, and to provide suggestions or feedback where appropriate

Facilitates or actively participates in meetings - in person and virtually - to solicit information required for learning design and development activities

Designs and collaborates in development of learning resources in a variety of formats including print, graphics, audio, video, and animation technologies to support project requirements: Designs instructor‑led training using training methods and multi‑media products that engage participants and facilitate the transfer of knowledge or skills, designs web‑based training that engages participants through interactive exercises, videos, and animations, uses creative writing to generate video scripts, scenarios, case studies and other products that enhance the learning process

Validates learning solutions through implementation of objectives and assessments that promote learning and evaluate product effectiveness

Delivers according to deadlines to ensure timely completion of project components

Reports on progress of employees under guidance during training periods

Maintains training programs and materials

Works well independently and as a collaborative member of a team

Location This position will be mostly spent in Auburn/Fredrickson, Washington, but will travel to Renton and Seattle. Mileage expenses will be covered as needed.

Skills and Experience

Instructional Design skills such as adult learning theory, writing, story telling, etc.

Interview skills - ability to put people at ease and good listening skills

Photography skills - the ability to capture an image and use all of the features of a camera

Adobe Suite applications - especially Photoshop to edit photos and Illustrator which is used to create new graphics or recreate images

Aviation industry background in maintenance and engineering a plus

Former military and/or aerospace experience a plus

Security clearance a plus

Requirements PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS General physical requirements needed to perform the essential functions of this job may vary based on location of assignment.

Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Fingering (typing), communicating, repetitive motions.

Close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data, view computer monitors and read. May need to view presentation screens and other visual aids in a virtual setting.

Inside environmental conditions with protection from outside elements.
