Job Summary The Forklift Parts Counter Sales Representative sells parts to internal and external customers over the counter, by phone, or online. They are involved in the direct sales process and maintain positive customer communication, thereby supporting operational success and building customer relationships.

Essential Functions

Provides support to field and shop technicians by answering inbound calls, looking up parts, offering advice on related parts, placing emergency orders, and communicating backorders.

Act as a liaison between technicians, customers, and suppliers, communicating pricing, delivery times, and backorders.

Follows up on backorders and assesses if new sourcing is needed to expedite delivery.

Places routine and emergency orders with external suppliers.

Maintains an orderly parts warehouse and bin locations to support the company’s 5S culture.

Processes outbound orders from picking to packing for customers and technicians.

Performs routine inventories of customer consignments to charge shortages accurately.

Analyzes van inventories to determine parts that should be frozen, increased, or removed.

Processes remanufactured cores to obtain credit from suppliers.

Receives and fills online and telephone orders for parts.

Reads catalogs, microfiche viewers, or computer displays to determine replacement part stock numbers and prices.

Receives payment and/or obtains credit authorization.

Advises customers and technicians on substitutions or modifications when identical replacements are unavailable.

Measures parts using precision instruments to determine if similar parts can be machined to required sizes.

Performs follow‑up sales calls with customers to ensure product satisfaction.

Maximizes customer sales potential by examining parts usage and providing advice on stocking based on lead times, consumables, maintenance type, and application.

Establishes regular communication with managers to resolve ongoing customer issues.

Maintains professionalism at all times.

Performs other duties of a similar nature as required.

Position Qualifications Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate’s Degree preferred.

Experience:

Two or more years in a material handling or automotive industry preferred.

Additional Requirements

Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

Knowledge of parts use and features across various machines or equipment.

Ability to work independently and effectively prioritize demands to execute tasks.

Keen attention to detail.

Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey information clearly and concisely.
