
Outside Sales Representative

Position Summary
The primary function of the Outside Sales position is to be responsible for all sales activities from lead generation through close in an assigned territory. This person will develop and implement the agreed-upon Company Marketing Plan and work toward the achievement of customer satisfaction, revenue generation, and long-term account goals in line with branch vision and values, and his/her own personal business goals. Training will be provided in product knowledge of building materials including drywall, insulation, metal studs for drywall, ceiling systems, construction tools, construction safety items, drywall compound, and accessories for the drywall industry.
Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for all steps of the sales process, including preparing action plans by accounts and product line, effective search and follow-through of sales leads and new customers.
Identify and execute up‑sell and cross‑sell opportunities and establish rapport with customers to build long‑term, repeat relationships.
Provide timely and accurate competitive pricing on all completed prospect applications submitted for pricing and approval.
Maintain accurate records of sales activity, sales, and pricing; gather competitive market and pricing information.
Basic Qualifications
Strong Microsoft Office skills.
Ability to self‑manage and extensive experience in all aspects of supplier relationship management.
Knowledge of building materials and the construction industry strongly preferred.
Bachelor’s degree is preferred; knowledge of and experience with Excel preferred.
3‑5 years sales experience preferred.
Core competencies: integrity, servant leadership, respect for diverse perspectives, and a positive/humble attitude.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and on a team, lead, execute, delegate, and collaborate.
Ability to self‑manage, show initiative, be proactive, and drive results.
Professional verbal and written communication skills with coworkers and customers.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to remain in a stationary position in an office environment 70% of the time.
Occasionally move about inside the office to access files and office machinery.
Must be able to operate basic office machinery and communicate with team and management.
