Director of the University Center.
The Director is responsible for leading the strategic operations of the new 109,000 sq. ft. University Center opening in March 2026. The University Center includes student support services, bookstore, theatre, food court, art gallery, ballroom, conference spaces, meeting rooms, and lounges. The Director is responsible for creating an inclusive vibrant environment focused on providing exceptional customer service related to building operations, student engagement, and event coordination. To be successful in this position, candidates should have demonstrated experience in building operations, fiscal management, and personnel supervision. As the Director of the University Center, you will be an active member of the Economic Development & Entrepreneurship team. East Stroudsburg University is located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, with proximity to New York City and Philadelphia. Working hours include Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m., in addition to weekend and evenings as needed.
Essential Responsibilities Strategic Leadership and Building Operations
Direct all operational aspects of the University Center including space utilization, maintenance coordination, safety procedures and emergency preparedness.
Develop and assess University Center usage policies and procedures and lead long‑range planning efforts for facility enhancements, renovations, and capital
Financial Management
Develop and manage operating and capital budgets for University Center operations, ensuring fiscal responsibility and strategic resource allocation in collaboration with the Business Office.
Monitor costs and expenditures and identify opportunities for efficiency and
Leadership & Staff Supervision
Supervise full‑time professional staff (e.g., building coordinators, technicians, student employees, and custodial teams.
Provide training, mentorship, and professional development
Student Engagement & Services
Partner with student affairs units to enhance student‑centered programs and
Collaborate on co‑curricular efforts, leadership development
Event Management
Oversee a centralized scheduling system for events, meetings, and public space
Ensure seamless coordination of AV, setup, technical, and security for campus events
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Business, Facilities Management, or related field; master’s degree preferred.
7+ years of progressively responsible experience in university center or large‑scale facility operations.
Proven experience managing large teams, multimillion‑dollar budgets, and high‑occupancy spaces.
Strong knowledge of building systems, safety codes, event logistics, and campus operations.
Demonstrated knowledge and at least three (3) years of commercial food service operations and public facility management skills (maintenance, emergency procedures, housekeeping and security).
Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
Demonstrated experience with event planning and facility management software, scheduling and management tools.
Able to read, write, and comprehend English; able to follow verbal instructions.
Experience with complex relational database software & Word, Excel, Teams required.
