Overview
The Town of Jackson is accepting applications from Lateral or Entry Level Police Officer candidates. Hiring Salary Entry: $83,603. Hiring Range Lateral: $85,000 - $90,000 DOQ, full benefits. The Police Department is seeking experienced, motivated, and value-centered individuals to join our law enforcement team and we are also accepting applications from entry level candidates.
Jackson is an active year-round resort community with amenities including fishing, big game and waterfowl hunting, premier restaurant and dining options, camping, proximity to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks, world class alpine and back country skiing, exciting snowmobile terrain, quality school system, rock climbing, adjacent to National Elk Refuge, arts and gallery scene, Nordic skiing, comprehensive pathway system, abundant wildlife and public access, and kayaking and rafting on the Snake River.
Community Policing and Duties The Department has a community engagement policing approach with an emphasis on mindfulness with programs including motorcycle patrol, K-9, investigations, bike patrol, airport enforcement, DUI and underage drinking focus, school resource, sexual assault response, as well as vehicle patrol utilizing upgraded fleet vehicles with cutting edge technology.

Qualifications Minimum qualifications for application submittal include US citizenship, 21 years of age upon completion of the Police Academy, and possession of a valid driver's license.
For lateral applicants, typical qualifications in addition to those above would be equivalent to: certified peace officer status, an Associates Degree or two years of college level coursework, and one to three years of experience as a peace officer.
Preference will be given to applicants with a Wyoming Peace Officer certification and Spanish language fluency. Up to $400/month Spanish fluency stipend. $15,000 signing/stay bonus. Officers are eligible to advance in rank and compensation from Police Officer to Police Officer IV under a time in service/merit/mastery program providing a 4.5% wage increase with each advancement in addition to annual increases.
