GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: This role is ideal for someone who enjoys community involvement, relationship building and clear, engaging communication. The specialist supports community outreach, public relations efforts, and digital presence while helping share the organization’s story across internal and external channels.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Marketing & Creative Director
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: N/A
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Community Engagement & Events:
Represent the organization at community events, health fairs, and outreach activities.
Assist with planning, coordination, and on-site support for community and company events.
Manage the event calendar, sponsorship coordination, and event logistics.
Build positive relationships with community partners and organizations.
2. Communications & Public Relations:
Draft press releases, media announcements, and internal communications.
Share organizational news, initiatives, and milestones with external audiences.
Support internal communications that keep employees informed and engaged
3. Social Media & Digital Storytelling:
Create and schedule digital media content that highlights community involvement, providers, staff, and patient-centered initiatives.
Monitor engagement and respond to messages or comments as appropriate.
Capture photos and short-form video content at events and in offices when possible.
Requirements EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 1 year of experience in communications, public relations, digital media, or community outreach.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Comfortable representing the organization in community settings.
Familiarity with social media platforms.
Ability to network, build relationships, and interact professionally with media, partners, and the public.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple events and deadlines.
Initiative, problem-solving ability, and sound judgment.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred (not required): Photography or videography experience.
Experience supporting events or community outreach initiatives.
ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS: Office setting with off-site community events a few times per month. Flexibility in schedule as needed for company sponsored events (may include an occasional weekend event).
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Frequent mobility and/or sitting required for extended periods of time. Manual dexterity for using computer keyboard. Some bending and stooping required. Lifting heavy objects up to 30lbs may be required.
