Regional Sales Manager – Northern California
Remote | Monterey Bay / Santa Cruz
Bernardus Winery, a family-owned luxury wine producer founded in 1989, is seeking a hands-on Regional Sales Manager to drive On-Premise sales execution in Northern California.
This role is primarily focused on local market execution in Monterey Bay and Santa Cruz (approximately 2/3 of time), with regular selling responsibility in the Bay Area (approximately 1/3 of time). The ideal candidate is a disciplined field seller with strong account development skills, a proven ability to close sales, and distributor execution experience.
Key Responsibilities
Execute sales, distribution, and depletion goals across the region
Build, maintain, and grow a strong On-Premise account base including fine dining, resorts, hotels, country clubs, and destination accounts
Spend the majority of time actively selling in Monterey Bay / Santa Cruz, with consistent Bay Area coverage
Open new accounts and grow volume in existing accounts through consistent field activity
Work directly with distributor sales teams to drive priorities, placements, and follow-through
Secure placements through tastings, presentations, wine dinners, and trade events
Educate accounts and sales teams on Bernardus wines, vineyards, and brand positioning
Maintain accurate sales activity, planning, and expense reporting
Qualifications
BA in Business or related field
3–5 years of wine sales experience with a wholesaler and/or supplier
Proven success in On-Premise selling and local market execution
Working knowledge of chain retail programs a plus
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to travel regionally (Bay Area)
Preferably based in Monterey Bay or Santa Cruz
Valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable vehicle
