Retail Risk Advisor
to join our remote Insurance Canopy retail sales team. Reporting to the Director of Retail Revenue, this role is responsible for driving new business by converting marketing-generated leads into policyholders through client-focused, consultative sales efforts. The Retail Risk Advisor works with small business clients to assess risk, recommend tailored insurance solutions, and deliver coverage that aligns with both client needs and Insurance Canopy’s product offerings. This role requires strong pipeline management, technical product knowledge, and close collaboration with underwriting, account management, and client service teams to deliver a seamless customer experience. Key Responsibilities
Convert inbound, marketing-generated leads into active policyholders through consultative sales across Insurance Canopy’s digital platforms Prospect and qualify opportunities via phone, email, and virtual meetings, ensuring alignment with client needs, eligibility, and underwriting requirements Assess the unique risks and coverage needs of small business clients across various industries using consultative selling techniques Recommend customized insurance solutions, including bundled and complementary products, that deliver meaningful protection and value Identify and present cross-sell and upsell opportunities to support broader client coverage needs Respond promptly to inbound leads in accordance with standard operating procedures, maximizing engagement and conversion opportunities Build, manage, and grow a robust sales pipeline in HubSpot, maintaining accurate and detailed records of lead status, interactions, and outcomes Track all sales activities, deal progress, and communications to ensure visibility, accountability, and effective forecasting Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Insurance Canopy products, carrier underwriting guidelines, and industry best practices Participate in carrier training, internal product training, and Learning & Development programs to ensure technical proficiency and compliance Prepare accurate insurance quotes that reflect prospect needs and product eligibility Finalize policy agreements, secure appropriate payment terms, and ensure seamless policy binding and activation Partner with Account Management to onboard new clients and ensure smooth handoffs post-sale Collaborate cross-functionally with underwriting, account management, and client service teams to accelerate deal closure and deliver a cohesive client experience Provide market feedback, competitive insights, and client input to support marketing strategy and product development Cultivate referrals from existing clients to supplement inbound lead flow and expand the sales pipeline Adhere to all licensing requirements, systems training, and standard operating procedures for lead management, CRM usage, and client engagement Required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned Requirements and Qualifications
Experience in consultative sales, preferably within insurance, financial services, or a related field Strong client-focused mindset with the ability to build trust, listen actively, and recommend appropriate solutions Familiarity with small business insurance products, including workers’ compensation, inland marine, and excess policies (or the ability to learn quickly) Proficiency using CRM platforms such as HubSpot to manage pipelines, track interactions, and maintain high data quality Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present coverage options and close sales Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize leads, follow-ups, and administrative tasks Comfort working in a fast-paced, inbound sales environment with fluctuating lead volume Collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively with underwriting, account management, and client service teams Technology-savvy, including comfort with virtual meeting tools (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams) and standard office software Active insurance license or ability to obtain and maintain required licensing Perks
