Penguin Random House Adult Field sales team is seeking aSouthern CaliforniaSales Manager overseeing the sales, marketing, and merchandising of titles across an assigned set of imprints. ThisLos Angelesbased position will interact with a variety of indie bookstore accountsthroughout Southern California,the EastBay in Northern California and New Mexico. This position willmaintainongoing communicationregardingnew and upcoming titles, backlist opportunities, market trends between our publishers and the accounts and will provide consistent feedback internallyregardingthe sell-in of titles and account needs. Specific responsibilities include:

Oversees the sales, marketing, and merchandising of assigned core and client publishers’ books to accounts within the designated territory, including periodic in-person visits to select independent bookstores. Services these same accountsin order tomanage and grow their business in the most effective and productive ways. Implements management goals,directionsand requirements. Remains current on core publisher and client publisher titles, authors, industry relatedtrendsand competitors to allow for the maximization of sales and foraccurateforecasting. Attending regional trade shows, author signings/pre-pub events and otherindustryand account related events in the territory. Self-manages the territory and office: itinerary, travel, analysis, email, sales materials etc. Speaks confidently and buoyantly to and with groups of book-lovers about books and reading. Minimum of 3 years of publishing sales experience, including direct selling. Awareness and interest in Publishing industry, including titles and authors. Ability to cultivate andmaintainbusiness relationships specific to book sales. Highly organized with the ability to prioritize multiple projects. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to access/follow various social media accounts, authors, etc. Proficiencyin Microsoft Office/Teams applications.Proficiencyin Edelweiss is a plus. Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel. Ability to work some evenings and/or weekends. The salary range for this position is $73,500 - $83,500. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
