Summary The Rosenbloom Owings Mills JCC Children’s Theatre Production Company (CTPC) is seeking show directors and/or director/choreographers for the upcoming summer 2026 CTPC Jr season:

Shrek Jr.

(June 22‑July 17) and

Mary Poppins Jr.

(July 20‑August 14) for grades 3‑8. Each camp day will include musical theatre preparatory classes, auditions, rehearsals, a full production, swimming, and field trips. The director will work with production assistants and counselors to run rehearsals, manage backstage, coordinate schedules, and collaborate on props, set, and costumes with other creative staff.

Commitment Hours are 9:30 AM‑4:45 PM daily. Candidates must commit to either the

Shrek Jr.

season (June 22‑July 17) or the

Mary Poppins Jr.

season (July 20‑August 14) and must attend all rehearsals, meetings, tech runs, shows, and post‑production activities. Reliable transportation and local housing are required.

Core Responsibilities

Develop the creative vision for the musical, including blocking, choreography, rehearsal scheduling, and technical collaboration with designers and the Director of Youth Arts Education.

Teach and uphold the integrity of all directorial components within CTPC programming.

Maintain correspondence with families, consult team members on specific questions, and coordinate CTPC events via email.

Be available every camp day and attend all pre‑ and post‑production meetings, special events, and required trainings.

Demonstrate punctuality, professionalism, and conduct that reflects the JCC’s standards of dignity, courtesy, and consideration.

Create a vibrant and welcoming environment that encourages creativity and realizes aspirations.

Adhere to the dress code, JCC professionalism standards, and wear an issued nametag or badge.

Qualifications

At least 2 years of experience teaching and/or directing, preferably with school‑aged students.

Experience directing multiple musical theatre productions is preferred.

Extensive experience working with diverse skill levels, ages, and learning abilities.

Strong classroom management skills, inclusive of all students per JCC and CTPC values.

Excellent organizational, communication, and collaborative skills.

Experience overseeing and managing large groups of staff.

Energy and passion for working with youth in a recreational setting.

Comfortable with Jewish culture and able to create inclusive environments for all students.

College degree in an artistic field preferred.

Choreography and dance background combined with theatre preferred.

All staff are background‑checked and trained in child‑abuse prevention and reporting protocols.

Physical Skills and Work Environment Regularly required to use hands to manipulate objects, sit, reach, and occasionally stand; may need to lift or move up to 25 pounds. The workplace can be noisy at times.

Compensation and Benefits Salary Range: $3,000+, dependent on experience. Available discounts for camp based on hours worked.
