Commercial C&I Credit Officer

who thrives on dissecting complex financial data, evaluating risk, and telling the financial story behind a borrower. This role is critical to supporting commercial lending decisions while upholding the Bank’s Culture of Excellence and regulatory standards. If you enjoy working closely with lenders, applying rigorous analysis, and producing high-quality credit narratives that stand up to scrutiny, this is a role where your expertise will truly matter.

How You’ll Contribute Analyze & Interpret Financial Risk

Analyze the financial condition and cash flow of existing and prospective commercial borrowers

Identify trends in financial ratios and changes in balance sheets and income statements

Perform guarantor and collateral analysis to support sound credit decisions

Analyze borrowing base certificates and underlying collateral to confirm compliance

Build Clear, Compelling Credit Narratives

Convert borrower financial statements into common-size spreadsheets using financial spreading software

Prepare comprehensive credit approval packages outlining loan requests, borrower condition, risks, and mitigants

Present relevant financial data with clear, well-supported narrative conclusions

Partner with Lenders

Communicate with lenders and borrowers to obtain required financial and operational information

Assist lenders in structuring and underwriting commercial loans

Support covenant development, testing, and ongoing compliance monitoring

Ensure Policy & Regulatory Alignment

Ensure adherence to Bank loan policies and document exceptions when necessary

Maintain expertise in evolving underwriting standards and regulatory guidelines

Perform quality control reviews of imaged loan and credit documents

What You’ll Bring Education & Experience

College degree in accounting, finance, economics, or business

Minimum of 6 credit hours of college-level accounting coursework, including intermediate financial accounting

2+ years of credit analysis experience at a bank with assets of $1 billion or more

Technical & Analytical Strengths

Exceptional ability to analyze and interpret financial statements and cash flow

Proven experience creating, interpreting, and testing loan covenants

Strong understanding of borrowing base lending and collateral analysis

High level of accuracy and attention to detail

Professional Skills

Ability to synthesize complex financial data into clear, actionable credit narratives

Strong verbal and written communication skills, including translating financial concepts for non-financial audiences

Critical thinking skills with the ability to make sound assumptions and solve problems

Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat

Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple lender requests, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines

Proven ability to collaborate effectively with lenders and colleagues with diverse work styles
