8/31/2026 Northwestern University is seeking a temporary Marketing and Communications Project Manager for the Evanston campus. Temporary Job Description:
Northwestern University Alumni Relations and Development is seeking a temporary project manager to join the Marketing and Communications team in advancing new and signature projects over a six-month period. The temporary project manager will join the high-performing design, digital communications, and editorial teams and collaborate with colleagues throughout the division to engage and steward Northwestern alumni, donors, and other constituents. The temporary project manager will work 30 hours per week—approximately 3.5 days per week, with two onsite days in Evanston, Illinois. Standard work hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. CDT on weekdays. This role may include very limited travel to Chicago to facilitate video/photography production. Specific Responsibilities Partner with Northwestern University Alumni Relations and Development's Marketing and Communications team and internal partner teams to develop and execute integrated marketing communications in support of alumni and donor programming and events. Programming will be a combination of in-person and virtual offerings. Responsibilities will also include logistical support for the Northwestern Alumni Association's brand campaign. Preferred Qualifications and Skills Bachelor's degree. 5+ years of experience developing and executing marketing communications programs. Agency, higher education, nonprofit experience a plus. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Outstanding project management skills. Demonstrated ability to manage complex programs and drive measurable outcomes. Experience with program brief development, schedule development and management, creative review and promotion. Outstanding client management skills. Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in fast-paced, changing environment with competing project priorities. Detail-oriented with experience reviewing work to ensure programs are on strategy, compelling, and utilizing industry best practices across email marketing, direct response, and print and digital formats. Strong problem-solver who is comfortable working autonomously as needed.
