Description Under moderate supervision observes passenger activities on bus or rail station platforms through the use of closed-circuit televisions.

Examples of Duties

Observes train and bus station platforms, ticket vending machines, fare gates, and other structures and facilities via closed circuit television

Provides customer assistance via telephone to patrons who have problems with ticket vending machines, locating lost articles, and rail routing or schedule information

Makes announcements regarding schedule changes, delays in service, out-of-service rail equipment and/or emergencies over the public address system, the variable message system, and Transportation Passenger Information System (TPIS)

Identifies ticket vending machine and fare gate problems; logs and reports malfunctions

Video records criminal activities that are observed at bus or rail station platforms

Logs daily activities and maintains records of observations

Compiles data for computer input to generate various reports

Notifies the proper authorities of any incidents that may occur, including any crimes in progress and crimes reported by victims

Assists supervisory personnel when necessary during emergency situations

Reports medical emergencies to immediate supervisor and appropriate law enforcement agencies for assistance

Contributes to ensuring that the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policies and programs of Metro are carried out

One year of relevant experience performing clerical duties in a call center environment

Certifications/Licenses/Special Requirements

May be assigned to work any shift

Holiday work necessary

Required training is 40 hours per week for approximately 4 weeks

Safety precautions and procedures

English usage, grammar, punctuation, and spelling

Metro's service areas and surrounding communities

Exercising good judgment in emergency situations

Communicating effectively orally and in writing

Conduct surveillance, retain information, and clearly report facts and details concerning observations

Log daily activities and maintain records of observations

Understand and follow oral and written instructions and procedures

Represent Metro before the public

Operate computers and general office equipment

Type 25 net words a minute

Compile data for computer input to generate various reports

Read, write, speak, and understand English
