Job Description:

We’re looking for a versatile and collaborative

Visual Designer

to join our Marketing Creative Team on a part‑time contract basis. In this role, you’ll create compelling visual solutions that bring our client's brand and marketing strategy to life across digital and print platforms—including campaigns, product marketing, web, social media, and internal communications.

You’ll partner closely with art directors, copywriters, project managers, and product leads to develop concepts and deliver polished, high‑impact creative.

What You’ll Do

Develop visually compelling designs for

campaigns, product marketing, websites, social media, print materials, and presentations

Translate complex ideas into clear, engaging visuals while upholding brand standards

Collaborate with art directors, copywriters, PMs, and cross‑functional partners throughout the creative process

Contribute to creative concepting, layout design, and cross‑channel design solutions

Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and high‑quality delivery

Work across both digital and print formats with strong attention to detail, typography, and visual hierarchy

Must‑Have Skills

Collaborative mindset

and ability to work closely with cross‑functional partners

Proficiency with design tools,

including Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and Figma

Strong visual design skills

with a portfolio demonstrating conceptual thinking and cross‑channel work

3+ years

of professional visual design experience

Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and communication streams

Strong attention to detail and visual problem‑solving abilities

Basic motion graphics capabilities

Photo editing and retouching experience

Understanding of

UX/UI principles

and working within design systems

Familiarity with brand systems, marketing workflows, and responsive digital design

How This Role Fits Into the Team This role will directly support the Marketing Creative Team’s design needs across multiple workstreams, including marketing campaigns, product launches, website content, and social media. You’ll play a key role in delivering cohesive, high‑impact creative that aligns with Northwestern Mutual’s brand and marketing strategy.

Work Schedule This is a

20‑hours‑per‑week contract role

with flexibility. While scheduling is largely adaptable, you must be available for key project meetings and reviews.
