Job Description
FOX Sports Digital is seeking a Freelance Video Editor with a strong passion for social-first storytelling and vertical video creation. This role focuses on crafting engaging, platform-native video content designed to perform across Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube, while also supporting select linear television projects.
The ideal candidate understands how to capture attention in the first few seconds, build compelling narratives for social audiences, and adapt content to each platform’s unique voice and format. The Freelance Video Editor will work closely with producers, editors, and digital teams to transform live events, studio shows, and original programming into high-performing social content that drives engagement and audience growth.
The Freelance Video Editor role is hands-on, fast-paced, and highly collaborative, requiring strong creative instincts, technical proficiency, and the ability to thrive under tight deadlines.
a Snapshot Of Your Responsibilities
Social-First Content & Storytelling
Edit and produce short-form and long-form social video, with a primary focus on vertical video formats
Craft compelling narratives optimized for social platforms, emphasizing pacing, hooks, captions, and visual clarity
Adapt live event and studio content into social-friendly edits that resonate with digital audiences
Collaborate on creative ideation for social series, trends, and digital-first initiatives
Production & Editing
Edit high-quality video content using Adobe Premiere Pro, with supporting graphics and motion elements created in After Effects and Photoshop
Apply strong visual storytelling, typography, and design fundamentals to enhance social performance
Manage media efficiently using media asset management systems, ensuring accurate organization and timely delivery
Execute fast-turnaround edits while maintaining editorial and brand standards
Work closely with Producers, Digital Editors, and Social teams to execute creative direction
Communicate clearly with stakeholders to ensure edits meet editorial goals and platform needs
Support team workflows and contribute to a collaborative post-production environment
Platform Expertise
Edit and optimize content specifically for Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube
Understand platform best practices including aspect ratios, runtimes, captions, thumbnails, and pacing
Stay current on social trends, formats, and creator-driven storytelling styles
What You Will Need
3+ years of professional video editing experience, with a strong emphasis on social and digital content
Demonstrated experience creating high-performing vertical and social-first video
Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop
Strong attention to detail, time management, and communication skills
Working knowledge of media asset management systems
Knowledge of both PC and Mac-based production environments
Solid file organization and asset tracking skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
Familiarity with video/audio codecs and social platform delivery requirements

Experience with Slack, Notion, and Box
