Job Title: Insurance Territory Manager Position Overview The Insurance Territory Manager is responsible for driving profitable premium growth and portfolio performance within an assigned geographic territory. This role develops and executes strategic agency plans, strengthens key distribution relationships, and ensures underwriting discipline and operational alignment across the region.

The Territory Manager serves as the primary field representative of the company, partnering with agency leadership to expand market share while maintaining portfolio profitability and risk quality.

Key Responsibilities Strategic Agency Relationship Management

Develop, manage, and deepen relationships with agency principals, producers, and key decision-makers.

Execute territory business plans aligned with company growth, profitability, and retention objectives.

Conduct regular in-person and virtual meetings to review performance, pipeline opportunities, and strategic initiatives.

Serve as a consultative partner by providing guidance on product appetite, underwriting guidelines, competitive positioning, and market trends.

Coordinate with underwriting, operations, and claims teams to ensure a seamless agency experience.

Portfolio & Performance Management

Monitor premium growth, retention, loss ratios, submission flow, and overall book quality within assigned agencies.

Analyze agency-level KPIs and production reports to identify trends and corrective action opportunities.

Drive targeted growth initiatives while maintaining underwriting discipline and risk selection standards.

Deliver formal agency performance reviews, scorecards, and structured action plans.

Ensure compliance with company underwriting guidelines, operational protocols, and contractual obligations.

Business Development & Market Expansion

Identify new agency appointment opportunities and strategic partnerships within the territory.

Evaluate agency capabilities and market positioning to uncover expansion opportunities, including new product adoption and niche program development.

Collaborate with agency leadership to develop tailored growth strategies and marketing initiatives.

Provide training and education to agency partners on product updates, underwriting appetite, and submission quality standards.

Deliver competitive intelligence and regional market insights to support strategic decision-making.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Insurance, or related field preferred.

3–7+ years of experience in Property & Casualty insurance, territory management, distribution management, or agency development.

Demonstrated ability to drive profitable growth within a defined territory.

Strong understanding of underwriting principles, risk evaluation, and portfolio management.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

Strong analytical capabilities with proficiency in performance metrics and reporting tools.

Ability to work independently while collaborating cross-functionally.

Willingness and ability to travel within the assigned territory (estimated 75% travel).
