Senior Communications Specialist position is available at Garney. This role is responsible for advancing Garney’s external communications strategy by developing clear, compelling content that translates complex infrastructure and construction work into engaging stories aligned with company priorities. Working closely with the Communications Manager, this role shapes messaging, guides initiatives from concept through delivery, and ensures brand consistency across channels. The position collaborates cross-functionally with operations, business development, human resources, and leadership to elevate brand visibility, support strategic initiatives, and strengthen the company’s reputation within the AEC industry.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Support and execute external communications initiatives that strengthen brand visibility and market presence
Contribute to public relations efforts, including press materials, background content, and media coordination
Ensure consistency in brand voice and messaging across platforms
Develop high-quality content, including project features, website copy, social media content, leadership messaging, and marketing collateral
Interview subject matter experts and translate technical information into audience-focused narratives
Identify and elevate project milestones, people stories, and industry impact
Support social media planning and content execution aligned with broader communications strategy
Assist with website content updates and digital storytelling initiatives
Monitor timelines to ensure consistent publishing cadence
Provide communications support for executive messaging, industry engagement, and company initiatives
Assist with award submissions, conference materials, and project recognition efforts
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English, or related field required
Minimum of 5 years of experience in communications, marketing, or public relations
Required experience within the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction industry
Advanced writing and editing skills across multiple formats and audiences
Ability to translate complex engineering and construction concepts into clear messaging
Strong interviewing and storytelling capabilities
Working knowledge of AEC industry dynamics and infrastructure project communications
Proficiency in project management platforms such as Asana, Monday.com, Trello, or similar
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
Effective collaboration skills across technical teams and senior leadership
Ability to maintain brand consistency across diverse communication channels
