
Assistant Golf Professional (Hourly)

The Assistant Golf Professional is an hourly position that works at either Walnut Creek Golf Preserve or Legacy Ridge Golf Course. Walnut Creek Golf Preserve is a high-volume golf course with 35,000-plus rounds per year. Legacy Ridge is a high-volume golf course with 37,000-plus rounds per year. This position will include all areas of the golf business, including working in the golf shop, cart barn, practice facility, and inside/outside guest services.
The availability of work hours for this position will be determined by these factors: program length, weather, and budget. The full salary range for this position is stated above, and the starting range of pay is dependent on qualifications and experience of each individual candidate.

Essential Job Functions, Duties, Responsibilities and Tasks
Opens and closes the golf shop, cart barn and practice facility, nightly general ledger/cash turn-ins, cart and range work, and sees that all day-to-day operations are performed in accordance with daily policy and procedures
Daily duties include, but are not limited to: day-to-day golf shop operations, golf shop guest services including running point of sale, cash sales, telephone reservations, golf shop inventory/sales and merchandising
Helps coordinate, plan, and execute all aspects of the golf operation with the First Assistant Golf Professional in order to provide first class service, enhance guests experience, and enforce all golf course policies and procedures in order to maximize per round revenue
Other Duties and Responsibilities: Incumbent is accountable for all duties of this job, and other projects and responsibilities may be added at the City’s discretion.
Education, Experience, Skills, Formal Training, Licenses and Certifications Required:
High school diploma or GED
A valid driver’s license, provide proof of a safe driving record, and safe driving record for continued employment
Requires minimum of one (1)-year experience in: retail setting, golf course operations, and/or POS (point of sale) and cash handling
Preferred:
Experience in daily golf shop, cart fleet, and practice area operations
PGA Member or registered Associate in the PGA Professional Golf Management (PGA PGM) Program
One (1) year of college-level coursework
Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which would provide the required knowledge and skills, may be considered.
Physical Requirements
Frequently sit, stand and walk through a multi-level facility
Occasionally squat, bend, kneel, twist, climb, balance and reach over head
Occasionally lift, carry, push or pull items weighing up to fifty (50) poundsFrequently use hands and fingers for fine manipulation; occasionally use light and firm grasp
Frequently see objects up close to perform office tasks and far away to observe activity for safety hazards or problems
Constantly use hearing to interact with guests and staff and recognize trouble outside of view
Occasionally use sufficient physical strength, stamina and agility to perform emergency work in various capacities
Working Conditions Work is constantly performed indoors and outdoors with exposure to extreme temperatures. Work is performed in a public golf course setting in which instruction and basic golf course maintenance are performed year-round. This is a high public contact position having frequent exposure to a very fast-paced environment.
Required Materials and Equipment Computers and related office equipment, golf carts, golf clubs, and equipment used in the daily operation of a golf course.
