Community Corrections Division Salary:
$4,603.00 to $6,190.00/month (CCO1) or $5,610.00 to $7,540.00/month (CCO2). Minimum starting salary for a CCO1 placement begins at Step G ($5,338.00/month).
About this role:
The CCO2 works as the Pre‑Sentence Investigation (PSI) Writer for the Everett Field Office located at 8625 Evergreen Way, Everett, WA 98208. Duties include conducting PSI investigations and preparing/submitting PSI reports. Shift hours: 0800‑1700, Monday‑Friday.

Responsibilities
Maintain productive relationships with stakeholders including court personnel, supervision staff, and community resources.
Conduct in‑depth interviews with individuals incarcerated at DOC facilities or in the field.
Gather information on current offenses, criminal history, background, health, and prior supervision.
Contact collateral resources (family, employers, treatment providers, victims, etc.) to verify information.
Prepare a professionally written report, including a legal sentencing recommendation consistent with Washington State sentencing laws.
Maintain hardcopy files and submit for archiving per local practice.
Present in court and provide completed reports within policy timeframes.
Engage supervised individuals using communication strategies such as Motivational Interviewing and Principles of Effective Interventions.
Enforce supervision conditions, enforce law, present written documentation, make sanction recommendations, and maintain chain of custody for evidence.
Ensure safety and security measures when armed and interacting with individuals outside the office.
Carry out any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications – CCO1
Must be able to carry and properly use a department‑issued firearm.
Must possess an unrestricted vehicle operator’s license valid in Washington.
Willingness and ability to work with individuals with criminal backgrounds, review graphic materials, and remain objective.

Must possess an unrestricted vehicle operator’s license valid in Washington.
Willingness and ability to work with individuals with criminal backgrounds, review graphic materials, and remain objective.
Demonstrated ability through college coursework or professional experience in three or more of the following:
Field visits
Written correspondence and reports
Case assessment and recommendation
Resource referral
Court presentation
Risk assessment
Treatment plan design and monitoring
Referral to substance abuse, family counseling, job training
Record maintenance

Data entry and tracking

Either:
One year as a CCO in Washington State DOC.
Associate or technical degree + three years of professional experience.
Bachelor’s degree + one year of professional experience.
Equivalent combination totaling five years.
Special Requirements and Conditions of Employment (All Levels)
Complete felony disclosure form and criminal background check.
Pass psychological screening (Battery Exam and Psychological Interview/Evaluation).
Submit to drug testing.
Complete orientation and mandatory training.
Familiar with and comply with department policies, procedures, CBAs.
Complete Firearms Academy and CIT training, maintaining qualifications and requalification annually.
