
Job Description
Truckee Meadows Community College, located in Reno, Nevada, is seeking applicants for an Athletic Trainer & Coordinator for the Fitness, Wellness and Athletics department.
Responsibilities Responsibilities will include the assessment of the physical health of student-athletes and the assessment and treatment of injuries incurred by student-athletes while participating in the College's athletic programs. Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Fitness, Wellness, and Athletics.
This position will be a coordinator over multiple initiatives in the Athletic Department. Assists the Director of Fitness, Wellness, and Athletics in managerial duties in planning, assessing, and reporting athletics, wellness and fitness activities and operations. Works with each individual unit and/or department head to collect measurable outcome data and prepares the annual division report.
Athletic Training (50%) Responsibilities
Assists with the athletic training coverage for all men's and women's intercollegiate teams.
Maintains and compiles complete and accurate records for each student-athlete injured or treated while participating in athletics.
Compiles and updates student-athlete emergency contact documents.
Assist in providing certified athletic training coverage for all home athletic contests.
Assist in game day preparations, set-up and clean-up.
Schedules preseason concussion testing and heart testing for all student-athletes.
Develops emergency procedures and action plans for all game day operations and events.
Act as a liaison with Truckee Meadows Community College Team physicians and consultants, with student-athlete physical exams, referrals and treatment of injuries and sickness.
Travel with athletic teams as needed.
Provide expertise for prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and related illnesses.
Coordinate athletic insurance coverage with athletes, health care providers and parents.
Consults and participates in the Health and Wellness Committee.
Create and manages yearly budgets for sports medicine, supplies and equipment.
Organizes sports medicine, supplies and equipment and maintain associated records.
Maintains and facilitates repairs for sports medicine equipment.
Manages all Athletic Department staff licensure for CPR and First Aid.
Maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Athletic Department Coordinator (50%) Responsibilities
Collects, organizes, and tracks measurable outcome data from each sports team.
Tracks and organizes alumni information.
Assist in developing, planning and implementing goals and creation of measurable outcomes that relate to the College's core themes and institutional strategic plan.
Assists with management of Sports and Fitness Center interviewing, scheduling, hiring, and managing of student workers and LOAs, as requested by Fitness, Wellness, and Athletics Director.
Develop, maintain, and improve the Sports and Fitness Center operations and procedures.
Request academic reports to be given to coaches to ensure student-athletes remain eligible.
Assist in the coordination and planning of annual Tailgate, Banquet, Spirit Day, Health and Wellness Committee events, and similar Athletic Department related events.
Work closely with the Administrative Assistant to the Fitness, Wellness and Athletics Department to ensure continuity of processes and initiatives. Serve as backup as needed.
Process paperwork, correspondence, and other documents to ensure the functioning of the office and to avoid a disruption in the services provided.
Proactively manage phone calls, e-mails, visitors, and other requests or inquiries.
Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, Public Health, Kinesiology or equivalent field.
One (1) year of work experience within Athletic Training or related field.
Board certified by National Athletic Trainers Association.
Nevada state certified for Athletic Trainers or equivalent
Certification in CPR and First Aid
Preferred Qualifications
Instructor Certified for CPR and First Aid
