Overview Danvers YMCA Stiles Pond Day Camp | Spring-Summer 2026

Calling all teachers, experienced camp director, or those training to be a Youth Development professional! The Danvers YMCA is hiring for the summer Day Camp that runs eight weeks at Stiles Pond in Boxford. Preferred start date: April 2026 (limited hours to support planning, hiring, and training ahead of summer camp); working at the camp Monday-Friday, June 22-August 21, 8:00-4:00; and assist with closing of camp (August 20th).

This role is responsible for the overall management of the Stiles Pond Camp, including its facility, staff, campers, parent relations, budget, and on-site operations. This location has a 120-child capacity, and all the typical fun programs that make summer camp an unforgettable experience for young children!

Qualifications

This position is ideal for someone with strong organizational skills, experience supervising staff, and a passion for creating safe, engaging, outdoor-focused experiences for children

Gain hands-on leadership and management experience

Must be at least 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license

Strong administrative, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Demonstrated commitment to program quality, youth development, and teamwork

Must obtain and maintain required certifications within three months of hire, including CPR/First Aid, Safety, Child Abuse Prevention, and YMCA Day Camp Director Training

Must be proficient in working on a computer

Must be able to lift and carry supplies weighing up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

The Seasonal Camp Director is responsible for the daily leadership, administration, and overall quality of the Danvers YMCA Stiles Pond day Camp program. Typical staff is 20-25 camp counselors.

Oversee daily camp operations to ensure a high-quality, safe, and engaging program.

Develop and support age-appropriate programming for camper going into grades 1st-5th.

Ensure activities that reflect YMCA values and include regular outdoor experiences.

Manage proper planning, staffing, set-up and closing of the camp.

Foster a positive, inclusive, and fun camp culture.

Supervise, support, and coach camp counselors and CITs.

Manage staff scheduling, coverage, training, and daily oversight as well as providing staff reviews.

Model professionalism, leadership, and positive behavior management.

Administrative & Operational Support, managing camp paperwork, attendance, rosters, communication, and basic reporting.

Maintain organization of program materials and shared spaces.

Communicate effectively with families, staff, and YMCA leadership.

Manage Safety & Compliance, ensuring all YMCA and Massachusetts/Health Department policies, procedures, and safety standards are followed.

Respond appropriately to incidents and support a safe camp environment at all times.

Develop plans and manage best practices through engagement of team.

Assist in the promotion of the program including newsletters, and other forms of communication with parents.

Perform administrative activities to support the program, including record and file maintenance, registration, release forms, and emergency forms.

Effectively create and manage budgets for supplies, crafts/sports, snack-shack.

Utilize non-threatening methods to address sensitive issues and inappropriate behavior or performance.
