
Overview
The PHES Designer position is for a highly skilled and experienced designer for the Propulsion HVAC and Engine Systems Design Services team. The candidate will use NX CAD or CATIA V5 to perform packaging, concepts, designs, layouts and checking of Engine System components including, but not limited to the following: Plastic (or sheet metal) parts for the air induction systems, air boxes, ducts, hoses, engine covers, etc.
Responsibilities
Creation of explicit geometry, including use of parametric modeling.
Completion of advanced packaging feasibility studies.
Completion of manufacturability and/or feasibility studies.
Packaging assessments of new components / systems (i.e. Air Induction, Cooling, HVAC, Fuels, and Exhaust systems, etc.).
Working with engineers to complete manufacturing/service studies.
Redesign models and complex assemblies to improve design quality.
Commonization studies.
Basic Qualifications
Associate degree or equivalent training in a design/engineering field. Other educational credentials, in combination with relevant Engineering experience, may also be considered.
Minimum 7 years of experience in NX or Catia - basic skills test may be administered.
Minimum 7 years' design experience with relevant experience.
Computer Skills Requirements
Unigraphics NX or CATIA V5.
Well versed in Siemens tools, Vis Mockup, Teamcenter & Adobe products including PDFs.
Proficient with Microsoft Office products (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
Extensive experience with NX parametric solid modeling and Teamcenter.
Strong written and oral communications to lead design and packaging meetings.
Strong organization, planning, and data management skills.
Ability to create designs per engineering standards.
Ability to understand, create, and interpret 2D drawings, 3D models and apply tolerancing.
0-20% travel, domestic and international
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering or a technology related discipline.
Extensive experience using NX or CATIA parametric solid modeling.
Minimum 7 years of design and releasing experience.
Strong interpersonal skills, to include ability to work effectively within an extended team.
Experience in the design of complex CAD models assemblies and components.
Self-starter who is comfortable managing multiple assignments.
Ability to apply GD&T and perform component stacks.
Knowledgeable of automotive systems and subsystems.
Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes.
