
The Volunteer Pickleball Ambassador helps create a welcoming, organized, and positive environment for pickleball players at the Durango Community Recreation Center. This volunteer works with the Recreation Center Manager to assist players, share information about policies and court procedures, and promote good sportsmanship during open play and special events. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys pickleball and wants to help support a fun, inclusive court environment.

What You’ll Do in This Role:
Attend volunteer orientation and any required training.
Arrive on time for assigned volunteer shifts.
Greet players and help new participants understand court rotation and open play procedures.
Promote good sportsmanship and respectful play among participants.
Assist with basic organization of courts and paddle rotation during busy times.
Monitor playing areas and report safety or maintenance concerns to staff.
Share program information, schedules, and policies with participants as needed.
Work cooperatively with recreation staff and other volunteers.
Wear provided volunteer apparel while on duty so participants can easily identify staff support.
Help care for equipment, supplies, and facilities.
Follow all department policies and procedures.
You Have:
Basic knowledge of pickleball rules, scoring, and court etiquette.
The ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with participants of all ages.
CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications or the willingness to obtain them (preferred).
You Will Succeed in This Role If You:
Enjoy engaging with the community and supporting recreational activities.
Can help resolve minor conflicts calmly and respectfully.
Are comfortable standing, walking, and assisting on courts for extended periods.
Can work independently with periodic staff guidance.
