
Smith Power Systems (SPS) is a 40+ year established manufacturer’s representative firm serving the industrial, power transmission and automation markets across Texas and surrounding states. We partner with leading manufacturers to support distributors, OEMs, and industrial end-users with technical product expertise and long-term relationship-driven sales support.
We are seeking an Outside Sales Representative based in Houston, TX to manage and grow our Houston, Southeast Texas and Louisiana territory.
Position Overview This is a field-based outside sales role responsible for:
Managing and growing an established book of business
Expanding distributor and OEM relationships
Driving growth across motors, power transmission, and automation product lines
Developing new account opportunities in the Houston and Gulf Coast region
Representing multiple industry-leading manufacturers
This role combines stability (existing accounts) with significant upside growth potential.
What You’ll Do
Call on industrial distributors and OEM customers
Maintain and grow existing revenue
Identify and develop new business opportunities
Conduct joint sales calls with manufacturers
Provide technical product support and application insight
Travel throughout Houston and Louisiana territory
Execute territory growth strategy alongside leadership
What We’re Looking For
3+ years of outside industrial sales experience
High school degree or equivalent work experience is required. College degree in a business or engineering field is preferred.
Background working with distribution (manufacturer or rep background preferred)
Experience in industrial products such as motors, power transmission, automation, or related equipment is preferred.
Strong relationship-building ability
Self-driven, organized, and comfortable working remotely
Long-term career mindset (5+ year commitment)
Must be proficient with the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Must Reside in the Houston Area
Ability to travel extensively within territory
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
