Job Summary Our ideal Depot Sales Manager has one to three years of management experience and a minimum of two years of outside sales experience. They also have the ability to oversee and nurture all aspects of the Old Town Trolley Tours of Boston ticket sales program while keeping the company’s mission to be The Nation’s Storyteller. This person must have a good sense of fun and the ability to motivate staff, increase sales, and manage in a team environment. You must be highly organized and detail oriented, with the initiative and proactive outlook to consistently manage time‑sensitive projects. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are a must, as you will be managing supervisors and their staff in achieving their goals. You will be setting and monitoring those goals as well as encouraging and teaching sales representatives to exceed those goals. This position requires a high degree of self‑motivation and the ability to work both independently and as a team member.

Essential Functions
Manage supervisors and their employees in achieving goals; plan and organize workloads and staff assignments/schedules to ensure the most effective use of staff. Participate in the interview, audition and hiring approval process. Train, counsel, motivate, communicate job expectations, and evaluate staff. Conduct annual performance evaluations with staff, review progress, and direct changes as needed.
Set and monitor sales goals and drive the sales program to ensure that the daily sales goals are met or exceeded.
Stay in the field at sales locations to train, coach, monitor, and motivate sales representatives to drive sales and ensure our guests receive excellent customer service.
Be knowledgeable of the Company’s products, services, pricing, and content of all ticket packages and train sales representatives to sell the right package to the right guest effectively.
Be knowledgeable and train the sales representatives on what the most popular thing to do at each of our trolley stops as well as provide accurate information regarding other tourist and visitor attractions.
Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Knowledge of principles and methods for promoting and selling products or services (marketing strategy and tactics, sales techniques, and sales control systems)
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer, personal services, personnel recruitment, selection, training, employee relations and investigations
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
Ability to develop a curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
Ability to read, write and speak fluent English in order to communicate with fellow employees and the general public
Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays when necessary
Qualifications
High School graduate or equivalent
Minimum of 2 years outside sales experience
1 – 3 years of management experience preferred
Other Requirements
Must pass pre‑employment, MVR/background check, and substance abuse testing
Valid MA Driver’s License with acceptable driving record for the past three years
Have a passion for helping people and making their Boston experience a memorable one.
