We are seeking a detail-oriented Customs Entry Writer to join a fast-paced freight forwarder near JFK.
This role is responsible for preparing and submitting accurate customs entries, ensuring compliance with all U.S. Customs regulations, and facilitating timely clearance of international shipments.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and transmit customs entries (ABI) for import shipments Classify goods using HTS codes and ensure accurate duty calculation Review shipping documents (commercial invoices, packing lists, AWBs) for accuracy and compliance Communicate with customs officials, brokers, and internal teams to resolve clearance issues Monitor shipment status and ensure timely release Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customs regulations and trade compliance requirements Qualifications
2+ years of experience in customs brokerage or freight forwarding Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and HTS classification Experience with ABI systems and customs software Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities Customs Broker License (preferred but not required) Click apply or email your resume to jmurphy@thomas-freight.com to apply!
