
Chiropractor-Education Debt Reduction Program-Open Continuous Announcement

This position is eligible for
the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) , a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.
This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until September 30, 2026. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be March 09, 2026. Eligible applications received after that date will be referred at regular intervals or as additional vacancies occur on an as‑needed basis until positions are filled.
The El Paso VA Health Care System (EPVAHCS) Chiropractic Service provides examination, diagnosis, treatment, and management of non‑operative musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions including subluxation. Chiropractors are licensed independent providers who work as part of VA interdisciplinary teams including physical medicine and rehabilitation, primary care, pain management, other relevant medical and surgical specialties, and other relevant associated health disciplines.
Provides a full range of diagnostic and evaluation services appropriate as part of the Whole Health (WH) approach to Veteran‑centric care. Expected to provide patient care that is compassionate, appropriate, and effective for the promotion of health, prevention of illness, treatment of disease, and care at the end of life. Demonstrate knowledge of established and evolving biomedical, clinical and social sciences, and the application of their knowledge to patient care and the education of others. Provides a full range of scientific evidence and methods to investigate, evaluate, and improve patient care, with special emphasis on brief and evidence based interventions found to be effective in pain management. The Chiropractor will be considered a subject matter expert on VA and/or community resources on a variety of unusually difficult chiropractic cases which are referred by other services for resolution and recommended courses of action to provide maximum rehabilitation. He/she identifies, develops and facilitates accessibility and utilization of VA and community resources to meet the needs of Veteran, their family, and clinics. He/she collaborates with and utilizes other members of the healthcare and WH team to provide comprehensive care to patients. The Chiropractor uses clinical judgment ensuring practice‑based learning and improvement are used in scientific evidence and methods to investigate, evaluate, and improve patient care. He/she provides interpersonal and communication skills that enable them to establish and maintain professional relationships with patients, families, and other members of the health care team. He/she has a working knowledge and understanding of the contexts and systems in which health care is provided, and the ability to apply this knowledge to improve optimizing health care. The Chiropractor documents each Veteran's progress by creating a progress note for each encounter; progress notes are written to address the Veteran's individual plan of care problem list. He/she revises the plan of care in accordance with clinic procedure and enters patient data into the computerized patient record system (CPRS) using the appropriate formats and templates. This information will be entered in a complete, confidential, timely and professional manner to ensure information regarding the patient can be shared with other VA staff. The Chiropractor will attend all appropriate staff meetings and perform other duties as required. The Chiropractor is responsible for staying abreast of current theory and treatment modalities by reading professional journals, attending conferences, clinic seminars and teleconferences, and materials made available at EPVAHCS. The Chiropractor demonstrates general knowledge of Veterans' benefits and services relating to special programs, service‑connected compensation, and non‑service‑connected pension. He/she facilitates referrals based upon needs and eligibility. The Chiropractor uses initiative and resourcefulness in deviating from traditional methods or trends and patterns to develop new methods, criteria, and propose new policies.
