Our client, an apparel and beauty company, is looking for a Product Developer to join their beauty team in NYC!

Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end product development for beauty products, from concept through production, with a strong focus on cosmetics formulations, textures, and performance.

Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, packaging, merchandising, and marketing teams to bring innovative beauty concepts to market.

Develop and execute packaging design direction, including component selection, materials, finishes, and secondary packaging.

Create detailed renderings, mock-ups, and visual presentations to communicate product concepts internally and to retail partners.

Research and analyze market trends, competitive landscape, and emerging ingredients to inform new product development.

Partner with vendors and manufacturers to ensure feasibility, cost targets, and timeline adherence.

Support merchandising strategy by aligning product architecture, pricing tiers, and assortment strategies with retailer needs (including off-price and specialty beauty channels).

Oversee formula sampling, shade development (if applicable), and texture evaluation to ensure product quality and brand alignment.

Qualifications

3–7+ years of experience in beauty product development, product design, or packaging design within the cosmetics industry.

Strong knowledge of cosmetic formulations, textures, ingredients, and performance testing.

Proven experience designing and developing beauty packaging (primary and secondary).

Ability to create high-quality renderings and mock-ups; CAD experience is a plus.

Background in companies selling to specialty beauty retailers such as Ulta or Sephora; off-price experience is a strong plus.

Deep understanding of beauty trends, product innovation, and competitive landscape.

Strong visual eye with the ability to balance creativity and commercial viability.

Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple timelines simultaneously.

Bachelor’s degree in Design, Product Development, Packaging, or a related field preferred.
