Job Summary As a Purchasing specialist you will oversee the storeroom operation while maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment for the staff. Ensures proper ordering, receiving, storing, and inventorying of supplies and food for patient/tray line, production, retail/cafeteria service, and catering and environmental services.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, initiate and communicate action plans to achieve account purchasing initiatives
Act purchaser for all food and catering activities
First point of support for purchasing questions
Vendor setup and management
Advise management on strategies to achieve purchasing compliance goals
Develop supplier diversity initiatives and track and monitor the results
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of purchasing experience preferred, depending upon formal degree or training
Good knowledge of food and inventory trends with a focus on operation while maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment for the staff
P&L accountability and contract‑managed service experience is desirable
Experience with cash retail operations
Possess accurate data‑entry skills, computer skills, and be detailed oriented with great organizational skills
Knowledge of food industry and/or purchasing strongly preferred
Must be experienced with computers; to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point), Outlook, E‑mail and the Internet
Must be willing to participate in patient satisfaction programs/activities
Serv Safe certified highly desirable
