Position Overview The Corporate Social Responsibility Specialist will be responsible for developing, implementing and managing CSR programs that align with BWXT’s purpose and values. This role involves collaborating with various departments, stakeholders and community organizations to promote social, environmental and economic sustainability.
Location Lynchburg, Virginia – hybrid schedule.
Your Day to Day as a Corporate Social Responsibility Specialist
Develop and execute CSR strategies and initiatives that align with the company’s goals and objectives.
Identify best practices in CSR implementation and reporting and regularly review BWXT activities in that light.
Prepare annual CSR/Sustainability progress reports.
Collaborate with internal teams to integrate CSR practices into business operations and decision-making processes.
Manage relationships with external partners, including non-profits, community organizations, state/local officials and governmental agencies.
Monitor and report on the impact of CSR initiatives, including metrics and outcomes.
Organize and participate in community outreach programs, volunteer activities and sustainability events.
Stay informed about industry trends, best practices and regulations related to CSR and sustainability.
Lead the idea generation and content creation for Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives across the greater Lynchburg region, including internal and external postings.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Social Sciences, or a related field.
At least 5 years of experience in CSR, corporate communications, sustainability, community engagement, government or public relations.
Strong understanding of CSR principles, practices, and a general awareness of reporting standards (e.g., GRI, SASB).
Proven project management skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and constituencies.
Highly organized and able to manage multiple programs and events simultaneously.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders.
Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with data analysis tools.
Excellent writing and editing skills, with experience developing story ideas, gathering content for those stories and writing.
Preferred Additional Qualifications
Master’s degree in a relevant field.
Familiarity with environmental and social governance (ESG) criteria.

Pay: $76,000- $119,000
The base salary range for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $76,000 and $119,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
