Strategic Segment Manager Germany (Remote) Travel required - up to 50% (valid driving licence essential) The role As the Strategic Segment Manager here at Illumina, you will have the responsibility for the development of New Markets for genomic sequencing and arrays focusing on the commercial development in the Germany Sub‑Region. The role leverages Illumina’s entire portfolio of products and resources through a centralized sales strategic approach directed to the development of the following markets: Healthy Screening, Biobanks, Pharma, large scale Personalized Medicine Programs.

You will partner with the Territory Account Managers, Sales Specialists, Marketing business partners, and cross‑functional supporting functions to drive strategic and tactical plans. The Strategic Segment Manager will provide regular updates on key projects and markets’ dynamics, and drive campaigns to ensure a sustaining long term genomics leadership position in the addressed markets.

Key responsibilities

Represent the Company professionally, ethically, and morally at all times

Development of a subregional market segment and project‑specific sales plan & execution of plan to meet the commercial goals

Delivery of seminars and presentations on Illumina products and solutions to demonstrate role and relevance in the following market segments:

Healthy Screening

Biobanks

Pharma

Personalized Medicine Programs

National Genomic Medicine Programs

Applied Markets

Demonstrate strong scientific expertise to effectively engage and collaborate with key stakeholders across the targeted markets.

Develop and maintain strong customer connections at various levels in the organization

Effectively prospect and drive demand in the identified markets in collaboration with the subregional and Pan‑European commercial teams.

Maintain a collaborative working relationship with internal, cross‑functional colleagues to ensure the achievement of the commercial goals

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences required; PhD strongly preferred

Strong technical background in genomics with a knowledge of NGS and/or Microarrays

Strong bio‑informatic knowledge related to the supported applications desirable

Commercial or business development experience in technology targeting specific market segments

Success working in complex sales environments, including multi‑layered organizations and specialist/overlay roles

Demonstrated track record to develop and execute business plans

Established network and relationships with KOLs across identified markets

Proven ability to network effectively across all levels of customer organizations and within the broader genomics ecosystem

Strong drive to build long‑term customer relationships

A commercial driver with excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and time‑management skills

Self‑motivated, collaborative and effective in a matrixed organization and a dynamic environment

Strong attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple priorities
