We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Heavy Civil Estimator to support our estimating team in preparing competitive bids for complex civil construction projects. This role is ideal for individuals with some field or estimating experience who are eager to grow their career in a collaborative, high-impact environment.
Responsibilities
Assist in quantity takeoffs using software (Agtek Gradeworks, Bluebeam, etc.) for earthwork, site utilities, rock removal/management, highway work, bridge work and general site development work.
Solicit, receive, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes.
Review plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and addenda to ensure complete understanding of project scope.
Support proposal and bid package preparation, including narratives, schedules, and compliance documentation.
Participate in site visits and pre-bid meetings as needed.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and superintendents to align estimating assumptions with field realities.
Work on-site in our office.
Qualifications
1–3 years of experience in construction estimating, project engineering, or a related field (internships or field experience welcome).
Familiarity with civil construction plans and specifications.
Proficiency in Excel; experience with takeoff software (Agtek Gradeworks/Bluebeam) or HCSS/HeavyBid a plus.
Strong math and analytical skills; attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills.
Eagerness to learn and contribute in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field is preferred but not required, construction experience, attitude and willingness to learn is just as valuable.
