General Description The Industry Specialized Program for the Select Commercial Insurance Sales Producer – Industry Specialized role is a comprehensive sales and insurance program focused on outside sales driving new business revenue growth for commercial clients with sales of $10 million and under. In addition to cross‑selling referrals from other internal business units, this role is expected to secure additional wins through an assigned book of qualified prospects within an industry specialization:
Construction, Commercial Real Estate, Healthcare or Industrial . The program is designed to develop insurance industry knowledge, obtain licensing, and focus on outside sales opportunities while leveraging current industry knowledge.
Primary Responsibilities
Achieve new business sales goals on an annualized basis for companies with sales of less than $10 million.
Create positive synergy and pursue cross‑selling opportunities with other practices (Property & Casualty, Employee Benefits, Personal Risk Services) to meet revenue growth targets.
Generate sufficient new business leads and first‑appointment activity volume.
Identify and overcome sales obstacles on a prospect‑specific basis.
Demonstrate proficiency in the discovery process (sales due diligence) and promote USI’s competitive differentiation, including mastering USI presentation templates and supporting OMNI output and solution pages.
Communicate solutions effectively to non‑insurance buyers by applying technical knowledge.
Develop relationships and achieve new business goals within a specific industry specialization (construction, commercial real estate, healthcare, or industrial).
Systematically use CRM to support sales processes, input accurate and timely information, and facilitate realistic corporate sales and revenue projections.
Attend and actively participate in the USI Industry Specialized Program, USI University, and USI Select ONE Academy.
Obtain proper insurance licensing through the program and independent study.
Develop and deploy sales and marketing strategies and periodic communications to optimize USI’s market position.
Represent USI positively and proactively in meetings, seminars, trade shows, and networking events.
Collaborate with the account management team and national/regional resources to maximize results.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
3–5 years of business‑to‑business sales experience, with senior‑executive calling and a track record of financial success.
Current sales success in Construction, Commercial Real Estate, Healthcare, or Industrial.
A personable, highly motivated, goal‑oriented, organized individual driven to achieve sales goals.
Superior written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
Excellent organization and follow‑up skills.
Excellent listening skills with a strong customer focus.
Good teamwork skills with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Understand and commit to mutual objectives of the Select Commercial Insurance Practice and Regional Office.
Ability to work with senior‑level management and present a top‑level executive presence.
College degree preferred.
