
Contract Specialist
Munro Defense is seeking a Contract Specialist to serve as a critical bridge between government contracting requirements and Munro's internal business development and project execution teams. This role ensures that contracts are clearly defined, compliant, executable, and aligned with both customer expectations and Munro's technical and operational capabilities. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in federal contracting, understands FAR/DFARS environments, and can translate technical and program needs into clear contractual documentation while ensuring regulatory compliance and fair pricing. Key Responsibilities Contract Development & Solicitation Collaborate closely with Program Managers and technical teams to understand program requirements and translate them into clear, well-structured Statements of Work (SOWs). Draft, review, and issue Requests for Proposals (RFPs), including all required legal, regulatory, and compliance clauses. Support proposal development by ensuring contractual language aligns with program scope, risk posture, and execution plans. Pricing & Performance Oversight Support pricing reviews to ensure the government is paying a fair and reasonable price, consistent with FAR requirements. Assist in defining, documenting, and tracking performance metrics, deliverables, and contractual milestones to ensure clarity and accountability. Contract Administration Support contract lifecycle activities, including contract modifications, amendments, and change management. Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure contract terms are understood and properly executed throughout the life of the contract. Compliance & Risk Management Ensure contracts comply with applicable federal regulations, security requirements, and government contracting standards (e.g., FAR, DFARS, cybersecurity, and data protection requirements). Work closely with internal teams to identify contractual risks and ensure mitigation strategies are understood and implemented. Cross-Functional Collaboration Act as a liaison between government contracting, Munro Business Development, and Munro project execution teams. Support internal business development efforts by providing contracting insight during capture and pre-award phases. Enable smooth handoff from contract award to project execution by ensuring contract clarity and alignment. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Contract Management, Law, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 37+ years of experience in government contracting, contract administration, or acquisition support. Strong working knowledge of FAR/DFARS and federal acquisition processes. Experience drafting SOWs, RFPs, and supporting pricing and contract modifications. Ability to work cross-functionally with technical, business development, and program execution teams. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and written communication abilities. Experience supporting defense or federal government programs preferred. Preferred Qualifications Contracting certifications (e.g., DAWIA, NCMA CPCM/CCM).
