Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The University of North Carolina Wilmington seeks an Executive Director to support the school leaders in coordinating the D.C. Virgo Preparatory Academy Lab School. The director will cultivate a culture of innovation, promote effective instructional practices, and ensure programs and budgets align with the mission. Collaboration across the university, school staff, and community stakeholders is essential. The role involves developing policies, leading professional development, and fostering a democratic, equitable, and culturally responsive environment.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- Master's degree in school administration, educational leadership, or equivalent with 2+ years of supervisory experience and 7+ years of relevant experience, or a bachelor's degree with 4+ supervisory years and 7+ years of relevant experience.
- Current or eligible to hold a NC Educator License – Principal or equivalent.
- Experience as a transformational school leader.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Doctoral Degree in Education Leadership.
- NC Educator License – Superintendent or equivalent.
- Experience working with Title I schools.
