Company Description
Tasked with tackling a labyrinth of payers and organized customers, with limited resources, payer marketers can sometimes feel trapped between a rock and—well…you know.
Overview
Payer Sciences is seeking a Director, Analytics to help lead market access–focused analytics that power strategic decision‑making for pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients. In this role, you will oversee advanced analyses across payer coverage, formulary, claims, affordability, and related data sources, translating complex datasets into clear insights and compelling narratives. You will partner closely with Data Strategy and Client teams to ensure analyses are aligned to business questions, uncover drivers behind payer behavior, and inform pricing, contracting, and market‑access strategies. You will guide analytic rigor and quality and help shape how data is transformed into actionable recommendations and client‑ready storytelling. This role requires both technical fluency and the ability to think strategically about the implications of findings in a dynamic managed‑care environment. This is a hybrid role, based in Morristown, NJ, New York City, Chicago, or Philadelphia. Join Payer Sciences to help drive evidence‑based insights that enable smarter access strategies and meaningful impact across the healthcare landscape.
Responsibilities
- Execute analyses using payer coverage, formulary details, patient claims, SP/HUB, affordability, and other data
- Develop charts, tables, dashboards, and slide content
- Perform QA of data outputs and ensure analytic accuracy
- Think critically about analyses — asking the right questions, recognizing when to dive deeper to uncover drivers behind trends, and when further analysis will not yield additional value
- Identify patterns, anomalies, and potential drivers that warrant further exploration, escalating them to strategists for discussion
- Collaborate closely with Strategists to ensure analyses are aligned with the business questions and contribute meaningfully to the storyline
- Perform research as needed to support insights
Qualifications
- 5-7 years of professional experience, preferably in the pharma/biotech industry
- Familiar with pharma data sources (IQVIA Plantrak, Symphony Health PayerSource, MMIT, Clarivate, affiliations data, amongst others)
- Exposure to US payer market dynamics and market access concepts
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically about the implications of findings
Skills
- Proficient/advanced Excel & SQL
- Comfortable with Tableau/Power BI
- Exposure to Python/R a plus
- Produces clear visuals; contributes to storyline with data insights
- Strong communication with the ability to explain analyses clearly to non‑technical teammates and present portions of findings to external stakeholders
