We are looking for a Director of Product Management to join our team to manage development of a new Energy-Management-as-a-Service solution that brings operational technology (OT), information technology (IT), and artificial intelligence (AI) to deliver measurable business outcomes for the most complex facilities and energy consumers. The ideal candidate will have experience in power systems, energy management and facilities management, on top of software product management proficiency. They will work closely with engineering teams and adjacent hardware and energy teams, as well as other product managers focused on related applications. This position will be based out of San Francisco, Santa Clara, or Irvine, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute product vision + roadmap alongside engineering leaders for a next-generation energy management platform that integrates edge and cloud technologies to optimize performance, sustainability, and compliance across data centers and other energy‑intensive facilities.
  • Translate business goals and customer pain points into clear product strategies, prioritized backlogs, and measurable success metrics that balance energy performance, operational savings, and market compliance.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with software engineering, AI/ML, DevOps, and product teams to deliver an integrated platform comprising edge devices and core services and a unified data ontology backbone that supports other applications.
  • Engage closely with hardware engineering and equipment vendors to ensure integration and management of gateways, sensors, and control devices with cloud services.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with key external OEMs, customers, and internal product managers to align capabilities with emerging grid services requirements.
  • Help shape and govern data and AI product strategy, including reinforcement learning, federated learning, predictive maintenance use cases, security, and interoperability.
  • Influence and collaborate on organizational direction and long‑term platform strategy, with potential to build and lead a product management team as the organization scales.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 7+ years of product management experience, including at least 3 years leading or directing complex, multi‑stakeholder software products in the data center, energy, sustainability, or industrial automation domains.
  • Proven track record delivering integrated hardware–software systems, ideally involving IoT, edge computing, or energy infrastructure.
  • Strong fluency with cloud and edge architectures (Docker/Kubernetes, microservices), API design, and data interoperability standards (Brick, ASHRAE 223, QUDT).
  • Demonstrated ability to define and execute product roadmaps, balancing short‑term delivery with long‑term platform scalability and compliance.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, capable of interfacing effectively with customers, engineering leaders, vendors, regulators, and executives.
  • Travel may be required for up to 35%, depending on business needs.

  • Familiarity with wholesale energy markets, demand response programs, and grid integration concepts, including real‑time pricing, carbon signals, and VPP participation.
  • Experience in AI‑driven control systems or advanced analytics applications (e.g., predictive maintenance, load optimization, or federated learning).
