Job Summary
The Transaction Advisory Services (TAS) Managing Director is a leadership role overseeing all aspects of TAS Centers of Excellence to support the overall delivery of the national TAS strategy. The Managing Director leads new business origination efforts and supports multiple client engagement teams while maintaining key client relationships. The role requires excellent leadership and technical skills, results orientation, and a tenacious work ethic.
Job Duties
- Oversee all functions of TAS Center of Excellence
- Lead new business origination efforts
- Coordinate cross‑selling opportunities across BDO service lines
- Oversee client engagement teams to ensure effective, efficient delivery of quality services
- Lead complex deal‑related issues and provide insight into deal‑specific matters, including earnings adjustments, pro‑forma calculations, working capital analysis, debt analysis, warranties & indemnities, and purchase agreement review
- Oversee the full spectrum of transaction advisory work in multiple engagements, including buy‑side and sell‑side mandates
- Enforce standards for quality and consistency and bring sophistication to client engagements
- Coach and mentor staff in due diligence, decision making, report writing, and project management
- Ensure client expectations are met, maintain client relationships, and resolve client issues and concerns
- Leverage BDO’s firm‑wide capabilities beyond TAS during client engagements
- Assist in identifying risks and issues related to the transaction and communicate effectively to clients
- Oversee development of proposal documents and conduct presentations to acquire new clients
- Partner with management at BDO offices to promote TAS services to existing and prospective clients
- Provide verbal and written performance feedback to TAS team members throughout the fiscal year and during annual performance reviews
- Travel up to 50%, as required
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Schedule and supervise tasks and project assignments of Senior Associates and Managers
- Review work product prepared by Senior Associates and Managers and provide review comments
- Partner with the Director of Transaction Advisory Services to provide verbal and written performance feedback to Senior Associates and Managers throughout the fiscal year and during annual performance reviews
Education
Bachelor’s degree required; focus in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance preferred.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance (required); MBA preferred.
Experience
- Ten (10) years of prior financial statement‑related professional services experience, with at least five (5) years in a dedicated TAS environment, including complex national and multi‑national buy‑and‑sell side transactions; carve‑out experience preferred.
- Prior experience interacting and working directly with C‑level personnel preferred.
- Experience at a Big 4 or other top‑tier consulting firm preferred.
License/Certifications
- CPA preferred.
Software
- Strong Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills required.

- Demonstrated practice leadership and development skills.
- Excellent project management and communication skills, with a sense of urgency and drive to help the company serve its clients.
- Ability to lead engagements, support/supervise staff, and respond to client needs.
- Solid knowledge of technical accounting areas such as US GAAP.
- Exhibit an executive presence and strong business acumen.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, specifically business writing aptitude.
- Ability to initiate and maintain solid relationships with all levels of client personnel, and to utilize network and industry relationships to identify business development opportunities.
Compensation
National Range: $250,000 – $400,000
Maryland Range: $250,000 – $400,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $250,000 – $400,000
