The Role

Speedrun is a flagship program that invests in new startups and partners with founders to inflect their growth with full‑stack operational support. As the Events & Community Marketing Partner, you’ll manage the day‑to‑day execution that powers speedrun’s operations and founder experience. The role is the operational heartbeat of the program, ensuring every session, communication, and founder interaction runs seamlessly.

This is not a task‑based role; it is for someone who thrives in ambiguity, anticipates needs, and brings structure, foresight, and speed to a fast‑moving program that demands precision. The position requires an in‑office presence 5 days a week in our San Francisco, CA office.

Responsibilities

  • Support program execution – ensure all sessions, meetings, and events run smoothly and on schedule.
  • Coordinate with founders – collect updates, confirm logistics, and share reminders and key information.
  • Manage community communications – post updates, organize channels, and maintain accurate participant lists across Slack and other tools.
  • Anticipate needs and remove blockers – identify potential roadblocks early, propose solutions, and keep the team ahead of schedule.
  • Oversee internal updates and alignment – compile and distribute agendas, summaries, and follow‑ups to founders and internal stakeholders.
  • Align across teams – partner with key stakeholders to ensure logistics, data, and communications are consistent and up to date.
  • Support events – help plan and execute team offsites, dinners, and demo day, ensuring every detail is handled.
  • Maintain documentation – own shared resources in Notion, Airtable, and Google Workspace to keep the team and founders aligned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4–6 years of experience in program management or operations or events.
  • Experience managing vendors end‑to‑end (sourcing, contracting, timelines, budgets, and on‑site production).
  • Proven ability to source, build, and maintain strong external vendor relationships to deliver high‑quality programming and events.
  • Experience recruiting, training, scheduling, and managing event staff (e.g., ambassadors, contractors, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver a high‑touch founder experience through clear communication, strong follow‑through, and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Exceptional organization, detail‑orientation, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Comfortable with public speaking, facilitating groups, and managing room dynamics during sessions and events.
  • Thrive in ambiguity and bring calm, clarity, and structure to fast‑changing environments.
  • Fluent across tools like Google Workspace, Notion, Airtable, and Slack.
  • Natural sense of foresight and problem‑solving, spotting issues early and fixing them fast.
  • Enjoy working in a fast‑paced, startup‑style environment that rewards ownership and speed.
  • Low ego, high empathy, and capacity to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.

The anticipated salary range for this role is between $138,000 – $161,000, with actual starting pay varying based on experience, skills, and scope.

This role is eligible to participate in the a16z carry program and various discretionary bonus programs, as well as benefit and perquisite plans including health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, 401(k) plan, vacation, and sick leave.
