ABOUT VEG
In 2014, VEG was born with a mission to help people and their pets when they need it most by challenging norms and fixing the ER experience. Since then, we've expanded rapidly, with hospitals nationwide open 24/7/365, and created an ER experience that focuses on what our pets and pet parents really need. We've done the same for our people (VEGgies), finding a way to say YES so they are empowered to achieve great things, grow in unexpected ways, and find a place where they truly belong.
We're rethinking emergency care from every angle—from how we run our hospitals to how we support the people working inside them. That's where our headquarters team comes in. Whether building technology to make our hospitals more efficient, recruiting and growing incredible VEGgies, or bringing our brand to life through marketing, our VQ (VEG Headquarters) team makes it all possible—ensuring our hospitals and people have everything they need to help pets and their families.
VEG is a 2025 and 2026 certified Great Place to Work®.
THE JOB
As a Senior ServiceNow Developer on the IT Operations team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing enterprise solutions for our ITSM and HRSD ServiceNow platforms. Your role involves supporting business processes, enhancing employee experiences, and reducing manual workloads by building scalable, secure, and integrated workflows aligned with VEG's objectives.
The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player, adept at translating cross‑functional requirements from IT, People, HR, Finance, Security, and Operations into effective platform solutions. We value clear, concise, and validated work in ServiceNow architecture and management, supported by comprehensive automated tests and documentation.
You should be a continuous learner, staying current with ServiceNow releases, best practices, and emerging technologies like Virtual Agent and NowLLM. This role requires someone who enjoys interacting with their team, mentors junior Admins, actively contributes to meetings, and prides themselves on producing understandable and thoroughly tested solutions.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
In this role, you will serve as the crucial link in managing and optimizing our ServiceNow platform and supporting infrastructure. Your primary focus will be on the design, configuration, and enhancement of all SNOW modules (ITSM, HRSD & More) to meet business requirements.
You will develop and maintain custom applications, workflows, integrations, and all automations. Additionally, you will implement and refine ACLs, business rules, UI policies, and data policies to ensure security and compliance.
Collaborate with the Program Management team and VEG stakeholders to gather requirements, document technical specifications, and deliver high‑quality solutions. Lead code reviews, provide technical guidance, enforce best practices for development and testing, troubleshoot issues, optimize performance, and support upgrades and patches.
Contribute to the ServiceNow roadmap by identifying opportunities for automation, knowledge management, and improved employee experience.
Although developers often work remotely from hospitals if they live nearby, occasional team trips to newly opened hospitals are common. These visits allow us to observe challenges and solutions firsthand, gain a deeper understanding of the needs of our frontline VEGgies, and learn about their daily operations.
WHAT YOU NEED

- 3-5 years of ServiceNow development experience.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript, Virtual agent, NowLLM, Flow Designer and ServiceNow Studio.
- Hands‑on experience with REST/SOAP integrations, including Workday and Okta, and third‑party system connectors.
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) required; Certified Application Developer (CAD) and ITSM/HRSD/ITOM certifications preferred but not required.
- Solid understanding of ITIL processes, CMDB design, governance principles, excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
WHO YOU ARE
- Empathetic, instinctively taking a people‑centric approach, whether supporting colleagues or understanding different perspectives.
- Have a sense of humility; acknowledging mistakes, sharing credit with others, and lifting up your team's accomplishments.
- Feel a strong sense of ownership over your work, taking responsibility for outcomes and staying committed to achieving long‑term, impactful results.
- Curious by nature; you ask insightful questions and continuously seek opportunities to learn and grow your skills and knowledge.
