Overview

The Vice President of AI Strategy and Implementation will lead Federal Signal’s efforts to leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) technologies to optimize processes, enhance operational efficiency, improve customer experience, and drive innovation.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive AI strategy aligned with long-term goals.
  • Identify opportunities for AI-driven transformation in supply chain, manufacturing, customer experience, sales, HR, finance, IT, and post-acquisition integration.
  • In collaboration with Enterprise IT, identify and develop foundational capabilities (e.g. data readiness, ML operations) required to build and operate AI-powered tools.
  • Foster partnerships with technology vendors, consultants, and other third-parties to support strategy and execution as needed.
  • Identify and design pilot opportunities in conjunction with internal and external resources.
  • Cooperate with IT to refine AI governance frameworks as needed to ensure ethical use, data privacy, and regulatory compliance.
  • Structure and populate an AI Ops and Delivery team.
  • Oversee the deployment of AI solutions across enterprise support systems, production systems, and products as applicable.
  • Ensure integration of AI technologies with existing ERP, MES, and IoT platforms.
  • Define KPIs and ROI metrics for AI projects and report progress to senior leadership and board.
  • Stay current with emerging AI trends.
  • Continuously evaluate and optimize AI solutions for scalability and cost-effectiveness.

Position Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field required.
  • Minimum 10+ years in technology leadership roles, with at least 5 years focused on AI/ML strategy and implementation.
  • Proven track record of deploying AI/IT solutions in manufacturing or industrial environments.
  • Expertise in AI/ML algorithms, data analytics, and industrial automation.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and change management skills.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable business strategies.
  • Academic or work experience with statistics or data science highly desirable.
  • Experience conducting research in a laboratory or business setting preferred.

This position is located in Downers Grove, IL and requires occasional site visits to other facilities across the US. Candidates should reside in the Greater Chicago area without the need for relocation.

$200,000 - $260,000
