The Chief of Strategy & Advancement is responsible for advancing Beta Academy’s mission, institutional strength, and long-term sustainability. This executive leads fundraising strategy, oversees advancement operations, drives execution of the strategic plan, supports land and facilities growth, strengths board and advisory engagement, and serves as the institutional storyteller for Beta Academy.
This leader ensures Beta is not only operating well, but advancing with clarity and momentum.
The Chief of Strategy & Advancement serves on the executive leadership team and works closely with the Founder and CEO to translate vision into measurable progress.

Direct Reports: Development Director and Advancement Team
Core Responsibilities
- Support execution and ongoing alignment of Beta Academy’s multi-year strategic plan as established by the CEO and the executive leadership team.
- Facilitate tracking, documentation, and accountability for strategic priorities determined by the CEO and executive leadership team.
- Convert strategic priorities established by the CEO and executive leadership team into measurable annual objectives and implementation plans.
- Convene quarterly executive reviews to assess progress, document updates, identify barriers, and ensure follow-through on agreed initiatives.
- Support the CEO and executive leadership team in long-term organizational growth planning, including expansion and program development analysis.
- Conduct due diligence, risk assessment, and financial modeling for new initiatives, partnerships, and growth opportunities when directed by the CEO.
- Design and oversee a comprehensive multi-year fundraising strategy that includes annual giving, major gifts, capital campaigns, planned giving, endowment growth, and diversified revenue streams.
- Lead the advancement department, including the Development Director, setting clear revenue targets and performance accountability.
- Ensure achievement toward the $3M annual fundraising goal, capital campaign milestones, and long-term endowment objectives.
- Develop and execute the major gift strategy, partnering closely with the CEO to personally steward and cultivate top-tier donors.
- Oversee grant strategy, corporate partnerships, planned giving programs, and endowment development to strengthen long-term sustainability.
- Build advancement systems, revenue forecasting models, and pipeline accountability structures to support predictable growth.
- Lead preparation and execution of capital campaigns aligned to board-approved facilities expansion and land acquisition initiatives.
3. Land, Facilities & Institutional Footprint
- Support master planning for campus development and land acquisition.
- Partner with realtors, developers, architects, and advisors on property strategy.
- Develop financial modeling and capital readiness plans for facilities growth.
- Lead strategic planning, due diligence, and financial modeling for land and facilities initiatives, partnering with the CEO in presentation and approval processes.
- Ensure facilities planning aligns with long-term enrollment and academic goals.
4. Board & Advisory Board Leadership
- Strengthen governance structures and board engagement practices.
- Lead board recruitment strategy in partnership with the CEO.
- Prepare board agendas, strategic updates, and advancement reports in partnership with the CBO and CEO.
- Develop and manage advisory board strategy and activation.
5. Institutional Partnerships
- Develop and steward strategic relationships with colleges, universities, corporations, civic leaders, and key community stakeholders.
- Support executive engagement with policymakers and charter advocacy organizations, including the Texas Public Charter Schools Association, as aligned with organizational priorities.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting charter schools and brief executive leadership as needed.
- Identify partnerships that directly benefit scholars and institutional growth.
- Evaluate potential expansion or global initiatives in partnership with the CEO.
- Maintain an active external relationship pipeline aligned with strategic priorities.
6. Institutional Communications & Advancement Narrative
- Serve as lead writer for major grant proposals, impact reports, and campaign materials.
- Capture and communicate Beta Academy’s past milestones, present impact, and future vision as defined by the CEO and executive leadership team.
- Translate the CEO and executive leadership team's direction into cohesive messaging across websites, publications, donor materials, and events.
- Ensure consistency and alignment of all institutional messaging.
7. Special Projects & Executive Partnership
- Lead cross-functional strategic initiatives as assigned by the CEO.
- Provide high-level project leadership for complex institutional efforts.
- Bring forward recommendations with options, risks, and implementation plans.
Qualifications
- Master’s required.
- 8 to 10 years of senior leadership experience in advancement, strategy, education, or nonprofit executive roles.
- Proven success leading major gift strategy and/or capital campaigns.
- Strong executive presence and board engagement experience.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and organizational growth.
- Exceptional writing and communication skills.
- Experience managing revenue/budgets.
- Experience working with property development or capital planning preferred.
- High capacity, disciplined, and results-oriented.
